Resumo: The present study aims to address the relationship between the market and the feast day of Our Lady of Abadia, in the community of Muquem. We start from the hypothesis that the action of the merchants around the festivities has been motivating for the development of a conception based on the idea that the religion practiced and that manifests itself in the celebrations is associated with the presuppositions established by the capitalist society. Taking as a theoretical-methodological basis the foundations of the dialectical method, we will seek to investigate the influence of the capitalist market around the Pilgrimage de Muquém. What guides us in this analysis is the prospect that the expansion of trade generated around the feast of the pilgrimage has become a mercantilist process historically built around this pilgrimage.

Partimos da hipótese de que a ação dos comerciantes em torno dos festejos tem sido motivadora para o desenvolvimento de uma concepção pautada na ideia de que a religião ali praticada e que se manifesta nas celebrações está associada a pressupostos estabelecidos pela sociedade capitalista. Tomando como base teórico-metodológica os fundamentos do método dialético, buscaremos investigar a influência do mercado capitalista em torno da Romaria de Muquém.
