The formation of architects and urbanist has always been an object of interest and study on the part of those who teach and exercise the architecture and urbanism. To guarantee the professional exercise on the working field and at the same time to establish minimun contents that could guarantee the training of the professional, it has been presents subjects on professors and architects discussions since the deployment of the first courses of architecture in Brazil. Facing all of the changes in the professional exercise, and especially the teaching of architecture, it is worth asking: how does it configure today the formation of the architect and urbanist? What is the result of this formation? What kind of professional are we molding? In fact do we mold a generalist professional, with a single license? To achieve this investigative goal has been analysed the finals graduation works of the Course of Architecture and Urbanism awarded on the National Competition of Final Graduation Work – Opera Prima, from 1989 to 2011, taken as primary resource of this research. The Opera Prima competition was created in 1988 through a partnership between the (Assossiação Brasileira de Ensino de Arquitetura) Brazilian Assossiation of Architecture Teaching, the ABEA, the magazine Projeto and the sponsorship from FADEMAC. The documental analysis was the methodological procedure adopted for the implementation of the research that has as purpose to analyse the finals graduation work of the course of Architecture and Urbanism. The final graduation work is an academic work widely used in higher education as a way to assess the graduating students of the course. The purpose is to always observe, in the evaluation of Final Work, the diversity of the training aspects of the architect and urbanist.
