Violence against women is not a new or unusual fact, is part of life for many families and regarded as a public health problem. The research is guided by the following question: what is the profile of violence reported in women in the city of Araguaína? On the context, the objective of this study is to characterize the cases of violence against women, reported by the System Information and Notifiable Diseases (SINAN) in Araguaina, Tocantins, Brazil. in the year 2014. It refers to a descriptive crosssectional study Data were collected in the Epidemiological Surveillance (VE), with the permission of the City Health Department. In this study, 225 were tabulated reporting forms. We used the Statistical Package Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 20 on Windows platform. The survey showed that most victims of violence was found in young women, low education, not white, single, sent after the assault to the outpatient and inpatient service. Profile of the attackers, they were mostly spouses / boyfriends / ex-partners. Most of the victims suffered violence in their homes, through physical aggression, by beating and his attackers were using alcohol at the time practiced violent act. The survey results show the importance of characterization of reported cases of violence against women, as it will allow the search for new practices in health more individualized each case. b and that these data will facilitate actions in health policy and the ongoing effort to maintain always interconnected system, always guaranteeing the rights of those abused women.
