This work, inscribed in the line of research Education and Culture, has as study object the toy as childhood experience. It is a bibliographic nature of research and has Walter Benjamin as the main reference. He tried to articulate the stories of childhood and toys, from, especially, the works "childs social history and family" and "History of the toy and games: play through the ages" of Philippe Aries and Michel Manson, respectively and learn how the concepts of childhood and toys were created and modified as the child entered the school universe. The school, which was constituted as needs related to the child "school", deserves mention because it is a place where the toy was reframed from a focused approach to teaching and learning. The concept of experience was questioned from the reflections of Walter Benjamin and John Dewey (2010). The objective of from these, think the toy as space experience, either as an act of creation, whether as a learning tool. At the end, we intend to state that the object "toy", childhood companion, is an element with many possibilities, including that of possible experience, that when the child can exercise with total freedom and creativity the activity of play.
