Resumo: This thesis analyzes the miracles in texts of the Old Testament, specifically in the narratives of the prophets Elijah and Elisha, as well as their presence in the contemporary world, especially in the economic sphere in which the capitalist market is. The pursuit of immediate solutions, capable of reducing the time of suffering, is evidenced, above all, when there are economic instabilities in market crises, fostering fear and insecurity. In this scenario, there is the pursuit of miracles in both sacred and profane environments. The hypothesis is derived from that the miracle is a means used to overcome economic crises, extrapolating the walls of churches, also seen in the economy. Thus, this work aims at understanding the miracle in the sacred and profane environments. The first chapter explains the miracle and its experience in religious spaces, inside churches and through television. The second chapter analyzes the participation of the prophets Elijah and Elisha in a reality marked by difficulties, leading people to pin their hopes in miracles, within a threeyear drought and idolatry that had struck Israel. The third one addresses the manifestation of the miracle in the marketplace, mainly when men and women go shopping not only for products and their uses, but for a happiness not found in their daily lives. The fourth analyzes the views of adolescents, inhabiting Sector O borough, Ceilândia-DF, about miracles through a sample with the application of a questionnaire. The results show that the belief in miracles is evident in both religious and economic spheres. The phenomenon shifts from the religious to the market that assumes attributes of a god.

A busca por soluções imediatas, capazes de reduzir o tempo de sofrimento se evidencia, sobretudo, quando há instabilidades econômicas nas crises do mercado gerando medo e insegurança. Nesse cenário, existe a busca por milagres tanto no ambiente sagrado como no profano. A hipótese parte do milagre ser um meio usado para superar crises econômicas, vindo a extrapolar as paredes das igrejas, visto também na economia. Assim, o objetivo deste trabalho é compreender o milagre no ambiente sagrado e profano. O primeiro capítulo explica o milagre e sua vivência nos espaços religiosos, no interior das igrejas e por meio da televisão. O segundo analisa a participação dos profetas Elias e Eliseu em uma realidade marcada por dificuldades, levando as pessoas a depositarem suas esperanças em milagres, com uma seca de três anos e a idolatria que atingira Israel. O terceiro aborda a manifestação do milagre no mercado principalmente quando homens e mulheres vão às compras em busca não só de produtos e suas utilidades, mas de uma felicidade não encontrada em seu cotidiano. O quarto analisa as visões de adolescentes, moradores da região do Setor O, Ceilândia-DF, sobre milagre por meio de uma amostra com a aplicação de um questionário. Os resultados mostram que a crença em milagre é evidente tanto em âmbito religioso quanto econômico.
