Resumo: This work aims to analyze the pericope of the nuptials of Cana of Galilee, better known as 'wedding at Cana' (John 2, 1-11). The research also looked at getting to know a little about the historical context of Jewish marriage. Since, patriarchal culture established greater rights and duties to men than women. The objective is to seek the example of Mary, mother of Jesus, at the wedding in Cana, her role that encourages Jesus to turn water into wine, and through feminist biblical hermeneutics a to reconstruct androcentric and patriarchal texts in the quest to reconstruct a new form of 'Sacred', and consequently, a new way of relationship between man and woman (marriage). In view of this, I mention the protagonist of women through feminist hermeneutics in other biblical texts from the Gospel of John, such as: John (2, 1-11; 4, 1, 42; 11, 1-46; 12, 1-12; 20, 1-18), and also of men and women in other New Testament texts, so that women are seen, recognized and valued, deconstructing in order to reconstruct their roles together with men. Furthermore, I seek through recent research studies that report the increase of domestic violence in Brazil in times of the COVID-19 pandemic, which makes us realize that instead of marriages being places of peace and generating life, it has become a place of violence and even death. Given this reality, I mention authors who deal with the concept of the 'Maria da Penha Law' [Brazilian Law that protects women against domestic violence] as a woman's right and on its fulfillment, and that still remains to be accomplished in the midst of an androcentric and patriarchal society, in which women continue to struggle to get their rights recognized. However, through the concept of gender, I seek to denounce through philosophers, theologians, sociologists, the role of men and women as a social construct that fuels the patriarchy still in force in the 21st century, but that contributes to the redefinition of feminine and masculine gender-roles. And I conclude with the contribution of feminist hermeneutics as a theoretical framework base through Mary and Jesus, as a means of bringing 'new wine' from the nuptials of Cana to resignify relationships even today in the 21st century

And I conclude with the contribution of feminist hermeneutics as a theoretical framework base through Mary and Jesus, as a means of bringing 'new wine' from the nuptials of Cana to resignify relationships even today in the 21st centuryEste trabalho visa analisar a perícope das núpcias de Caná da Galiléia, mais conhecida como 'bodas de Caná' (Jo 2,1-11). Made available in DSpace on 2020-11-05T20:11:51Z (GMT).
