Percepção dos familiares sobre a atuação da equipe de cuidados paliativos durante internação hospitalar

The present study aimed to understand the repercussions of palliative care from the perspective of relatives of patients during the period of hospitalization. It is a crosssectional descriptive study with a qualitative and exploratory approach. The methodological procedure used in this study included semi-structured interviews with relatives of patients in palliative care hospitalized at a referral hospital in rehabilitation and rehabilitation of the city of Goiânia / GO. Inclusion criteria were relatives of patients in the hospitalization period in conditions to interview and aged over 18 years. Already as exclusion criteria, no family members who reported diagnosing a psychiatric disorder and under the age of 18 were searched. The analysis of the interviews was based on the perspective of the Theory Based on the Data. After transcription and subsequent analysis of the interviews, the explanatory categories that emerged from the interviewees' discourses were: 1) Cause of hospitalization and notion of palliative care; 2) Team approach and family support; 3) Team weaknesses and potentialities; 4) Difficulties and expectations. The results obtained allow us to conclude that the perception of relatives in relation to the palliative care team is the existence of gaps and difficulties on the part of the team to adequately and emancipate patients and their families, not contemplating the objectives of the proposed treatment. It was possible to understand the users' wishes and the weaknesses of the team. This fact can contribute to the planning of future strategies, aiming at improvements in the care of the palliative care team.
