Resumo: Cutaneous leishmaniasis (CL) is certainly the most common form of the group of chronic diseases known as leishmaniasis. Classified as a neglected tropical disease, it has close relationships with environmental, social and economic predictors and their consequences. In view of the complexity of analyzes that integrate the different categories of predictors, it is possible to identify gaps related to the eco-epidemiology of leishmaniasis. Thus, this work seeks to quantify the incidence and prevalence of cases of CL in Brazil by testing its association with different factors that may influence the occurrence of the disease. For this purpose, this work is centered on the biological aspects of the cases in all regions of Brazil in the period between 2007 and 2016. For the analyzes, all possible variables were collected in the Notifiable Diseases Information System (SINAN) and that met the premises required to describe the epidemiology of the disease, we associate the number of cases with variables linked to human factors (Municipality Area, Population, Agricultural Production, Municipal Human Development Index and Gross Domestic Product) and environmental factors (Native Vegetation Remnant, Altitude and Climate). Between 2007 and 2016, 216,482 cases of CL were registered in SINAN in Brazil, with male individuals being the most affected 72.62%. The year 2012 had the highest number of reported cases 25397, regarding the age group. The prevalence is in groups of 20 to 39 years old and the region with the highest index is in the north. As for the type of entry, 93.61% are new cases and 4.87% relapse, the clinical form presented 93.86% for the cutaneous form. Relating the evolution of the cases, the cure obtained a satisfactory result representing 72.78%. The OLS model, composed of 09 predictor variables, indicated that 28% of the data variation is related to the set of variables tested, showing greater explanatory power for the variation of data from the Midwest Region followed by the Northeast, North, Southeast and South Regions , respectively The partition of variance showed that in all the Regions analyzed, there is an influence of human and environmental factors for the variation in the number of LT cases that occurred in Brazil between the years 2006 and 2017, the Environmental factors were the ones that most contributed to the variation of the analyzed data, followed by human factors and finally by spatial factors. There is an instability in the SINAN platform, which may lead to a change in the cases analyzed, even so the study made it possible to infer relevant information for the population in relation to the cases of CL in Brazil.

Submitted by anapaula Dias (anapaula@pucgoias.edu.br) on 2025-08-07T14:51:31Z No. of bitstreams: 1 Lorraine Rafaela Souza Ribeiro.pdf: 3215630 bytes, checksum: c1f7c736d0ca8d58e264fa6ace6b7c98 (MD5)Made available in DSpace on 2025-08-07T14:51:31Z (GMT).
