This paper is a study of the actions for the women developed by the government of the State of São Paulo, between the years of 1995 and 2006, in the areas of education, health, work and public security. From a theoretical discussion on the origins of the modern State and its connection with the issues regarding the women, the contemporary landmark of the public politics agenda is brought back to light, which is the declaration of the United Nations Organization (UNO), in 1975, about the International Year of the Women, and the Decade of the Women. The UNO recommended that the countries implement specific politics in order to reduce the inequality between men and women. The context of the so-called second wave of the feminism coincides, in Brazil, with the period of the re-democratization and with the increasing movement of the women and feminists, that pressured the State to agree to their demands. This work aims the understanding of how the specific politics for women within the period mentioned were developed, in the ambit of the State government. The research targeted the identification among the priorities of the government of the State of São Paulo, during three administrations, of what actions regarding the women took part in the documents of the budgeting cycle. The effort made was that of the localization and analysis of the programs for women amongst the goals and priorities of the government of the State of São Paulo
