Resumo: In this research entitled "Memory, Culture and Power: the city of Santa Rita do Sapucai between the years 1959 and 1985" is woven a reflection on the social, political, economic and cultural relations in Santa Rita do Sapucaí MG, from the relations and articulations that have been built around the creation process of the Technical School of Electronics 'Francisco Moreira da Costa' and the National Institute of Telecommunications, as well as the origination of a new image for the city, now dedicated to the technological area. We seek to understand how the foundation of these educational institutions took place, as well as the role of political and economic forces involved in this process and the changes that technological education brought to the city, culminating in the emergence of the 'Electronic Valley'
