Faced with the worsening effects of climate change and the need for urgent action by various sectors of society, this doctoral thesis aims to contribute to the transformation of this scenario. In the context of the scientific field of communication, in line with the objectives of the line of research in creative processes in communication and culture, the thesis is composed of a conceptual reflection on the climate problem, an analysis of communicational phenomena and presents a proposition of engagement with environmental and sustainability policies linked to the UN Sustainable Development Goals – SDGs. The research problem involves understanding the contradictions and complexities of the crisis, as, although there are communication products that have been created to increase the circulation of information about the environmental crisis, there is, at the same time, a lack of projects that act in a similar way. more effectively in the implementation of necessary changes, in addition to speeches that point to the conflict of interests of capital. The thesis presents an overview of discussions on the concepts of Anthropocene and Capitolocene, proposes an analysis of reports on climate problems and develops a cartography of the imaginary of transforms in the narrative of “Mowgli, o wolf boy”. The choice of this narrative is justified by the questions raised by the protagonist's adventures in the face of historical transformations linked to the processes of industrialization, imperialism and colonization. From the application of the imaginary cartography method, it was possible to find some of the roots that constitute the planetary environmental crisis. In addition, the narrative also reveals the importance of overcoming the dualistic mentality that separates human beings and nature. The methodological strategies included: bibliographic review on the research problem; cartography of imaginaries and analysis of selected communicational phenomena. The results found in the research point to the importance of communication projects that provoke aesthetic experiences and, with that, contribute to the transformation of consciousness, daily practices and actions of international leaders.
