Resumo: At the end of the 19th century, the role of Psychology in the analysis of the social reality of the individual, despite all its advance in the experimental field, was something deeply questioned by the nascent sociological community. Max Weber's apparent rejection of a possible psychological contribution to the understanding of the complex relationship between man and society, at first, seems consistent with the context of his time and his environment. However, thorough the reading of Weber's work, especially his methodological texts, it becomes clear that this perception does not hold true, given that, despite his critical tone, Weber, in fact, incorporated psychological elements into his ideal-typical analysis. Although not widely studied, the influence of psychology on Weber's sociology, as well as his position on the relationship between both sciences, is imperative to understand the importance of the German sociologist's thought and methodology in the establishment of a psychosocial science. It is possible to say, therefore, that Weber was one of the pioneers to break the barrier imposed between Sociology and Psychology by the late 19th and early 20th centuries. In order to deepen the study of this aspect of Weberian Sociology, this thesis explore the way in which the sciences of Sociology and Psychology developed, seeking in their historical and philosophical origins, the root for the creation of a barrier between the two sciences and to the development of psychosocial knowledge. Additionally, the objective of this thesis is to explore, through reading Weber's texts, the reason for Weber's criticism of the scientific practice of Psychology and the psychologists of his time. With this, it is intended to establish the real relationship of Weberian thought with Psychology, in addition to indicating a possible relationship of complementarity between Weberian Comprehensive Sociology and the psychoanalytic theory of another important thinker that broke through the barrier that separated the study of society versus study of the individual: Sigmund Freud

In order to deepen the study of this aspect of Weberian Sociology, this thesis explore the way in which the sciences of Sociology and Psychology developed, seeking in their historical and philosophical origins, the root for the creation of a barrier between the two sciences and to the development of psychosocial knowledge. Additionally, the objective of this thesis is to explore, through reading Weber's texts, the reason for Weber's criticism of the scientific practice of Psychology and the psychologists of his time. With this, it is intended to establish the real relationship of Weberian thought with Psychology, in addition to indicating a possible relationship of complementarity between Weberian Comprehensive Sociology and the psychoanalytic theory of another important thinker that broke through the barrier that separated the study of society versus study of the individual: Sigmund FreudAo final do século XIX, o papel da Psicologia na análise da realidade social do indivíduo, apesar de todo seu avanço no campo experimental, era algo profundamente questionado pela nascente comunidade sociológica. A aparente rejeição de Max Weber de uma possível contribuição psicológica para a compreensão da complexa relação entre homem e sociedade, em um primeiro momento, parece condizente com o contexto de sua época e de seu meio. No entanto, a leitura aprofundada da obra de Weber, especialmente seus textos metodológicos, mostra que tal percepção não se verifica, pois, apesar do seu tom crítico, Weber, de fato, incorporou em sua análise típico-ideal elementos psicológicos. Ainda que não seja amplamente estudada, a influência da Psicologia na Sociologia de Weber, bem como sua posição acerca da relação entre ambas as ciências, se mostra imperativo para compreender a importância do pensamento e da metodologia do sociólogo alemão no estabelecimento de uma ciência psicossocial. É possível afirmar, portanto, que Weber foi um dos pioneiros a romper a barreira imposta entre a Sociologia e a Psicologia ao final do século XIX e começo do século XX. Com o intuito de aprofundar o estudo desse aspecto da Sociologia weberiana, esta tese explora o modo como se desenvolveram as ciências da Sociologia e da Psicologia, buscando em suas origens históricas e filosóficas a raiz da criação de uma barreira à integração das duas ciências e ao desenvolvimento do conhecimento psicossocial. Adicionalmente, constitui um objetivo, explorar, através da leitura dos textos de Weber, o motivo da crítica de Weber à prática científica da Psicologia e aos psicólogos de seu tempo. Com isso, pretende-se estabelecer a real relação do pensamento weberiano com a Psicologia, além de indicar uma possível relação de complementaridade entre a Sociologia Compreensiva weberiana e a teoria psicanalítica de outro importante pensador a romper a barreira que separava o estudo da sociedade versus o estudo do indivíduo: Sigmund FreudCoordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPESapplication/pdfhttp://tede2.pucsp.br/tede/retrieve/52792/Pedro%20Secches.pdf.jpgporPontifícia Universidade Católica de São PauloPrograma de Estudos Pós-Graduados em FilosofiaPUC-SPBrasilFaculdade de Filosofia, Comunicação, Letras e ArtesWeber, Max [1864-1920]Sociologia - FilosofiaPsicologiaSociology – PhilosophyPsychologyCNPQ::CIENCIAS HUMANAS::FILOSOFIAMax Weber: entre a Sociologia e a Psicologiainfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/doctoralThesisinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessreponame:Biblioteca Digital de Teses e Dissertações da PUC_SPinstname:Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo (PUC-SP)instacron:PUC_SPTEXTPedro Secches.pdf.txtPedro Secches.pdf.txtExtracted texttext/plain595024https://repositorio.pucsp.br/xmlui/bitstream/handle/23351/4/Pedro%20Secches.pdf.txt2f7f1c3156bcb5b1f16c5b6de11b3b58MD54LICENSElicense.txtlicense.txttext/plain;
