Resumo: | Introduction: Acupuncture is considered a medical specialty in Brazil since 1995 and, together with Auriculotherapy, are present in the National Policy on Integrative and Complementary Practices since 2006, but they are still not a reality in medical graduation in many colleges. Objective: The main objective was to develop an elective module on Chinese Auriculotherapy for second-year undergraduate students in medicine at the Faculty of Medical Sciences and Health of the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo; make medical students aware of the practice of Auriculotherapy in medical work; present the possibilities of using Auriculotherapy as a unique or complementary practice; discuss the scientific basis and mechanism of action of Auriculotherapy; assess the learning of students participating in the research project; evaluate the elective module by students and evaluate the distance learning. Method: Cross-sectional, descriptive, quali-quantitative research, with an elective module of 50 hours for students in the second year of the Medicine Course at the Faculty of Medical Sciences and Health of the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo, with theoretical and practical classes in remote format. Pre and post questionnaires were used to analyze previous experience and knowledge, acquired knowledge and for the evaluation of the elective module respectively. Results: 24 students participated. Of these 14 (58.3%) had already been treated with acupuncture or other treatment technique of Traditional Chinese Medicine and 03 (12.5%) participated in internships on acupuncture or auriculotherapy. The students' greatest expectation was to learn non-pharmacological treatments and be able to apply them. All mentioned that among the indications were chronic pain. About the acquired learning, 87.5% (21) considered the module as excellent and 12.5% (3) as a good module. 79.2% (19) felt confident during the activities related to the practice, 16.7% (4) felt insecure and 4.2% (1) said they were indifferent. Didactics, being remote, accessible and support material are strengths of the module. As weaknesses, the lack of in-person practical part was mentioned by 25% (6) students. Among the opinions and suggestions, a greater number of professors, more dynamic and less tiring theoretical classes, face-to-face practical period. Conclusions The positive evaluation of the module, the low absenteeism observed, the spontaneous adherence of students, denote the importance of offering this module in the course. The hybrid form would be ideal for the activity, but remote learning adjusted to teaching strategies proved to be valid for the purpose of the study. The satisfaction of most participants and the feeling of learning acquisition, appreciation of the methodology used, quality and efficiency of the teaching material and the methodology used for the execution of the elective module was evidenced |
