Resumo: Hansen’s Disease (HD) is often neglected and is a concern for public health, being of notice that Brazil is second worldwide in new diagnosed cases. It is a contagious condition and although curable may leave sequels that worsen its stigma. Currently, at the moment of diagnosis, the degree of physical incapability has been high, which demonstrates late suspicion. It is of extreme importance the realization of research that bring alert to the institutions of medical education about the need of improving its professional qualification. Our goal has been to verify the degree of knowledge of medical residents of clinical areas in PUC-SP in assisting patients with HD. This is a quantitative, descriptive and transversal study made with 19 medical residents in clinical areas of PUC-SP Medicine School in 2019. The data was collected through 2 self-applied questionnaires (the first with sociodemographic profile and 4 closed questions, and the second answered before and after the educational intervention). The sample consisted mainly of women (84%), younger than 30 years (63%) and graduated in the last 5 years (79%). The increase in immediate knowledge on average corresponded to 17.5% and was significant by the Student’s t test. The difficulties found in some closed questions (to about 80% of participants) were related to diagnosis and treatment, being confirmed by the answers of the pre/post test where there were larger increases of right answers (above 30%, with p<0.05). These findings may be related to an excessively theoretical formation, without practical training. Therefore, we conclude that there is a need to incentive future contextualized activities that ground the knowledge of medical residents about this condition

These findings may be related to an excessively theoretical formation, without practical training. Therefore, we conclude that there is a need to incentive future contextualized activities that ground the knowledge of medical residents about this conditionA hanseníase é uma doença negligenciada e um problema de Saúde Pública, sendo que o Brasil é o segundo país no mundo em número de casos novos. É uma condição infectocontagiosa curável, mas pode deixar sequelas que pioram seu estigma. Atualmente, no momento do diagnóstico, o grau de incapacidade física encontrado nos pacientes tem sido alto, o que demostra suspeição tardia. A realização de pesquisas que propiciem alerta às instituições de ensino médico sobre a necessidade de melhorar a qualificação de seus profissionais é de suma importância. Nosso objetivo foi verificar o grau de conhecimento dos médicos residentes de áreas clínicas da Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo (PUC-SP), campus Sorocaba, no atendimento ao hanseniano. Este é um estudo quantitativo, descritivo e transversal realizado com 19 médicos residentes de áreas clínicas da PUC-SP em 2019. A coleta de dados foi através de 2 questionários autoaplicáveis (o primeiro com perfil sociodemográfico e 4 perguntas fechadas, e o segundo respondido antes e após a intervenção educativa). A amostra era composta predominantemente por mulheres (84%), com idade inferior a 30 anos (63%) e formadas nos últimos 5 anos (79%). O incremento no conhecimento imediato foi em média correspondente a 17,5%, sendo significante pelo teste t de Student. Constatou-se que as dificuldades encontradas em algumas perguntas fechadas (para cerca de 80% dos participantes) foram relacionadas a diagnóstico e tratamento, confirmadas pelas respostas do pré/pós teste onde tivemos maior incremento de acertos (acima de 30%, com p< 0,05). Este achado pode estar relacionado a uma excessiva formação teórica, sem treinamento prático. Assim, infere-se a necessidade de incentivo a futuras atividades educativas contextualizadas que sedimentem o conhecimento de médicos residentes sobre esta doençaapplication/pdfhttp://tede2.pucsp.br/tede/retrieve/51451/Karem%20Christine%20Corr%c3%aaa%20e%20Silva.pdf.jpgporPontifícia Universidade Católica de São PauloPrograma de Estudos Pós-Graduados em Educação nas Profissões da SaúdePUC-SPBrasilFaculdade de Ciências Médicas e da SaúdeHanseníaseEducação em SaúdeMédicos residentesLeprosyHealth educationMedical residentsCNPQ::CIENCIAS DA SAUDEIntervenção educativa em hanseníase para médicos residentes de áreas clínicasHansen's disesase educational intervention for medical residents of internal medicineinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/masterThesisinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessreponame:Repositório Institucional da PUC_SPinstname:Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo (PUC-SP)instacron:PUC_SPTEXTKarem Christine Corrêa e Silva.pdf.txtKarem Christine Corrêa e Silva.pdf.txtExtracted texttext/plain98087https://repositorio.pucsp.br/xmlui/bitstream/handle/22959/4/Karem%20Christine%20Corr%c3%aaa%20e%20Silva.pdf.txtdb97198835142242f25246e5e7a1f007MD54LICENSElicense.txtlicense.txttext/plain;
