Mário de Andrade pesquisador: as tradições populares na produção intelectual marioandradina (1928-1944)

Resumo: The goal of this research consists in investigating the understanding regarding Mário de Andrade as it concerns popular traditions, just as the meaning and its part attributed to them by the writer throughout his intellectual path, so as to examine the historicity of the author, scrutinizing its several interpretative threads. The hardship of this work focuses in identifying the research of folklore as the essential axis of the “marioandradina” body of work. Although Mário de Andrade maintains the concern with “making Brazil more Brazilian” throughout production, over the years, there is a reconfiguration of this project, for new interpretations intertwine his research about popular traditions, be it the understanding that they should be studied with “scientific” rigor or its social policy commitment. The work, embodied in the field of Intellectual History, utilizes sources concentrated from the period of 1928 up to 1944, them being literary texts, research papers and that reflect about the popular culture, as well as correspondence. It’s imperative to emphasize the interweaving of literati and researcher in the body of work of Mário de Andrade, even though one or other attitude gets highlighted in different moments of its trajectory, in the same way the varied purposes, methods and assumptions that lead Mário de Andrade to resort to folklore

A problemática do trabalho se concentra na identificação da pesquisa das tradições populares como eixo visceral da obra marioandradina. Embora Mário de Andrade mantenha a preocupação de “abrasileirar o Brasil” ao longo de sua produção, com o passar dos anos, há uma reconfiguração deste projeto, pois novas interpretações entremeiam suas pesquisas sobre as tradições populares, seja o entendimento de que deveriam ser estudadas com rigor “científico” ou seu engajamento político-social. O trabalho, inserido no campo da História Intelectual, utiliza fontes de época concentradas, sobretudo, no período de 1928 a 1944, sendo elas textos literários, textos de pesquisa e que refletem sobre as culturas populares, assim como correspondências.
