Resumo: Science is fundamental for our existence. Physics is among the subjects upon which science is based. Besides being of extreme importance in the understanding of concepts related to the existence of human beings and on laws that govern the universe, it can also contribute to a civic awareness education through a teaching method oriented to students' daily situations. Unfortunately, there is a shortage of experimental practice on physical and natural sciences in Brazil, with excessive dependence on course material, expository method, number of classes reduced and teachers’ insufficient qualification. Given these circumstances, this thesis was idealized as a proposal to facilitate students learning concerning electromagnetism and Maxwell's laws. Therefore, a manual for the construction of electromagnetism experiments was devised and applied, in 2017, to a group of senior high school students at a public school located in the State of São Paulo. That aimed to develop students’ motivation regarding science studying tied to investigative experimentation. The activities were conducted for about eighteen weeks and involved preparation, elaboration, presentation in class with discussion, and final presentation to the community of the projects selected by students with the teacher's orientation. Concurrently, the teacher presented concepts related to the experiments investigated by the students. The utilization of the class content done with the proposed method comparing to the traditional method was analyzed from the number of correct answer rates in tests. The results of the 2016 class – control group – were compared to the 2017 class – experimental group. The 2016 class had a 41,2 % of correct answers rate whereas the 2017 class had a 50,9% which suggests the practice allowed for better students’ performance.

Dentre as disciplinas nas quais a Ciência se baseia está a Física, que, além de ser de extrema importância no entendimento dos conceitos relacionados à própria existência do ser humano e às leis que regem o Universo, pode contribuir para a formação cidadã, por meio de um ensino voltado às situações cotidianas dos estudantes. Infelizmente, o ensino das ciências físicas e naturais no país vive a escassez da prática experimental, com dependência excessiva ao livro didático e ao uso do método expositivo; com número de aulas reduzido e, em geral, uma profissionalização insuficiente do professor. Diante dessa crise na educação, este trabalho foi idealizado como uma proposta para facilitar a aprendizagem, pelos alunos, do conteúdo de Física relacionado ao eletromagnetismo e às leis de Maxwell. Para tanto, desenvolveu-se um manual para realização de uma mostra de ciências, com experimentos de eletromagnetismo. O produto desenvolvido foi aplicado em 2017, a alunos do 3° ano do Ensino Médio de uma escola estadual, localizada no interior do Estado de São Paulo. Durante a aplicação, buscou-se desenvolver nos estudantes maior motivação ao estudo das ciências, atrelada à experimentação investigativa. As atividades foram realizadas durante o período de aproximadamente 18 semanas, compreendendo a preparação, elaboração, apresentação em sala de aula com discussão e apresentação final, à comunidade, dos experimentos escolhidos pelos alunos, sob orientação do professor. Paralelamente, o professor apresentou os conceitos relacionados aos experimentos investigados pelos estudantes. O aproveitamento do conteúdo das aulas desenvolvidas com a metodologia proposta que não envolve a metodologia tradicional foi analisado a partir do índice de acertos dos estudantes em uma avaliação do tipo teste. Foram comparados resultados das turmas de 2016, denominadas turmas controle, e de 2017, quando houve aplicação do produto. As turmas de 2016 obtiveram um índice de 41,2% de aproveitamento, enquanto as turmas de 2017 obtiveram o índice de 50,9% de aproveitamento, o que sugere que a prática proporcionou melhora no desempenho dos estudantes.Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES)CAPES:001porUniversidade Federal de São CarlosCâmpus SorocabaPrograma de Mestrado Nacional Profissional em Ensino de Física - PROFISUFSCarEnsino de FísicaEnsino de EletromagnetismoExperimentaçãoPhysics EducationElectromagnetism TeachingExperimentationCIENCIAS EXATAS E DA TERRA::FISICA::FISICA GERALExperimentos demonstrativos para o estudo do eletromagnetismo.Demonstrative experiments for the study of electromagnetiminfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/masterThesisOnlineinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessreponame:Repositório Institucional da UFSCARinstname:Universidade Federal de São Carlos (UFSCAR)instacron:UFSCARORIGINALDissertação.pdfDissertação.pdfapplication/pdf3844024https://repositorio.ufscar.br/bitstreams/4555c010-799f-4ab5-ac3f-d31380a3ee48/download09f4ba4ef39597df98c22e710cab3ea1MD51trueAnonymousREADCarta Comprovante.pdfCarta Comprovante.pdfapplication/pdf354169https://repositorio.ufscar.br/bitstreams/42221bc0-014a-4687-b6ec-b1b687bb4746/downloadb857de9a1159cf586d14d0ce615bfab8MD52falseAnonymousREADLICENSElicense.txtlicense.txttext/plain;
