Para tanto foram utilizadas 202 tomografias obtidas de 101 pacientes adultos de ambos os gêneros, com voxel de 0,2 mm, passando no centro de resistência do incisivo, as quais foram examinadas por um avaliador previamente calibrado (O teste de correlação intraclasse (ICC) revelou que houve reprodutibilidade excelente e significativa (ICC>0,9; p<0,0001), tanto para as medidas tomadas pela vestibular quanto pela lingual). Os dados obtidos foram submetidos aos testes de Bartlett que mostrou que as variâncias entre as faces ou lados não eram homogenêas (p<0,0001) e de Kolmogorov-Smirnov, que demonstrou que a distribuição dos dados também não foi normal (p<0,001). Desta forma, os dados foram submetidos a testes não-paramétricos. O teste de Kruskal-Wallis foi utilizado para comparar as medidas obtidas das tabuas vestibulares, as quais apresentaram menores (teste de Kruskal-Wallis, p<0,01) valores do que aquelas da face lingual, independentemente do lado estudado. Não houve diferenças estatisticamente significantes (teste de Kruskal-Wallis, p>0,05) em função dos fatores estudados, sendo que os testes do Qui-quadrado e Exato de Fisher foram utilizados para observar a distribuição das medidas entre os lados, esquerdo e direito. Foi possível observar que não houve diferenças estatisticamente significantes (Qui-quadrado) com relação à distribuição das medidas entre os lados (p=0,5417) e nem entre as faces vestibulares (p=0,5926) ou linguais (p=0,7734). Desta forma, apenas as faces influenciaram as medidas. Foi possível observar que as medidas maiores que 1,5 mm mostraram maior distribuição na face lingual do que na face vestibular (Qui-quadrado, p<0,05), sendo que as menores medidas se concentraram mais na face vestibular (Teste Exato de Fischer, p<0,05). Em relação aos valores encontrados a espessura variou desde zero até 4 mm na espessura vestibular e lingual, com medidas variando abaixo de 0,25 mm em 24,8% no lado direito e 28,7% no lado esquerdo, as maiores mediadas foram encontradas no lado lingual, entre 2 e 4 mm 6,9% no lado direito e 5% no lado esquerdo. Os resultados analisados revelaram a reduzida espessura das tábuas vestibular e lingual na região de incisivos inferiores, principalmente na tábua vestibular, sendo esta área mais propensa a aparecer deiscências. The aim of this study was to evaluate the different thicknesses of buccal and lingual bone plate of the lower incisors, the importance of this anatomical site in orthodontics the highest occurrences of fenestration and dehiscence, and still have the lowest tracks of keratinized gingiva in the oral cavity, allied to it quite thin and with a minimum thickness bone surface, still suffering from a possible flaring of the incisors being one of the factors responsible for the appearance of gingival recession, both were used for tomographic acquisitions of 202 obtained from 101 adult patients of both gender was used a 0.2 mm voxel, from the center of resistance of the incisor, respectively were used Bartlett tests showed that variances between the faces or sides were not homogeneous (p < 0.0001) and Kolmogorov- Smirnov test which showed that the distribution of the data was also not normal (p < 0.001). It was observed that there was no statistically significant difference (chi-square) with respect to the distribution of measurements between sides (p = 0.5417) nor between the labial (p = 0.5926) or lingual (p = 0,7734). Thus, only the faces influenced the measurements. It was observed that measures greater than 1.5 mm showed greater distribution in the lingual than on the buccal surface (Chi- square, p < 0.05), although the lowest measures focused more on the buccal surface (Exact Test Fischer, p<0.05). Regarding the values found ranged from zero to 4 mm buccal and lingual thickness, the smallest measures found are located in the vestibular face, zero mm in 22.8 % on the right side and 21.8 % on the left side, and the greatest mediated were found in the lingual side, between 2 and 4 mm on the right side by 6.9% and 5% on the left side. The test of the intraclass correlation (ICC) revealed that there were significant and excellent reproducibility (ICC >0.9, p <0.0001) for both measures as the buccal from the lingual. This indicates that the operator showed excellent reliability in reproducing the measures. These areas are more likely to appear dehiscence and fenestration and despite the lack of studies have evaluated the bone thickness in previous orthodontic pretreatment lower region and the impact that these measurements may lead in planning the case more studies should be carried out comparing the height of these bone plates and, as movements in the buccolingual direction could lead to a reduction of these heights and their thicknesses. The analyzed results reveal the reduced thickness of buccal and lingual boards in the region of lower incisors, being markedly lower in the vestibular and these areas are more likely to appear dehiscence. The method proved to be efficient in the measurement in the evaluation of these thicknesses. Keywords: Tomography. Orthodontics.
