Resumo: Work Engagement is one of the constructs related to happiness at work. Its relevance is due to the potential to contribute to the well-being of workers and the performance of organizations, with consequent impacts on society. Despite the attention received from the scientific community, with increasing research in the field, work engagement experiences decline worldwide. This research verified the existence of relationships between the personal conditions of happiness, inside and outside the company, and work engagement in a sample of workers (N = 429) from a national private organization and a multinational, located in Distrito Federal and São Paulo respectively. The Utrecht Engagement Scale (UWES) and the adaptation of the Gross National Happiness Scale (FIB) for the Brazilian corporate environment (BIB-T) were used. The investigation confirmed the hypothesis, for the samples of this survey, that people with better conditions of happiness showed greater engagement at work.

Sua relevância se dá devido ao potencial de contribuição para o bem-estar do trabalhador e para a performance das organizações, com consequentes impactos sobre a sociedade. Apesar da atenção recebida por parte da comunidade científica, com crescente investigação no âmbito do engajamento no trabalho, o engajamento experimenta declínio em todo o mundo. Nesta pesquisa buscou-se verificar a existência de relações entre as condições pessoais de felicidade, intra e extramuros da empresa, e o engajamento no trabalho em uma amostra de trabalhadores (N=429) de uma organização privada nacional e uma multinacional, localizadas no Distrito Federal e e em São Paulo respectivamente. Foram usadas a Escala de Engajamento de Utrecht (UWES) e a adaptação da Escala Felicidade Interna Bruta (FIB) para o ambiente corporativo brasileiro (FIB-T).
