Resumo: Aging is an inevitable and irreversible process, causing progressive structural and consequently functional loss in the body, such as sarcopenia, decreased strength, which affects not only the peripheral muscles, but also the respiratory force impacting a decrease in lung function and resulting in limitation. for the elderly and respiratory complications. This decrease in strength is more evident in women due to hormonal changes and lower percentage of lean mass. It can be evaluated by Dynamometry, through the Palmar Gripping Force, quickly, practically and painlessly, bringing reliable parameters of global strength. Given the importance of evaluating and identifying these alterations, this study aimed to verify if the palmar pressure force is related and can be obtained as a predictor of pulmonary function in elderly women in the community. relation to hand strength, respiratory muscles and lung volumes. Based on the results of the present study, only handgrip strength and maximal inspiratory pressure were positively related (p <0.05), but without being considered as a predictor of pulmonary function.

Esta diminuição de força é mais evidente nas mulheres, devido alterações hormonais e menor percetual de massa magra. Pode ser avaliada pela Dinamometria, através da Força de Preensão Palmar, de forma rápida, prática e indolor, trazendo parâmetros confiáveis de força global. Diante da importância de se avaliar e identificar estas alterações, esse estudo teve como o objetivo verificar se a força de pressão palmar tem relação e pode ser obtida como preditor da função pulmonar em idosas da comunidade.Participaram da pesquisa 30 idosas, que foram avalidas em relação a força da mão, músculos respiratórios e volumes pulmonares.
