Resumo: The study explores the competitive and regulatory aspects related to the types of credit offered to individuals. The credit modalities involved in this study are overdraft and revolving credit card. In view of the understanding of the monetary and antitrust authorities that they are not competing products, the study concluded the opposite, since there was evidence that these credit modalities are in the same relevant market. Thus, it was stated that, from a regulatory point of view, regulations that do not consider such evidence may have their effectiveness reduced, while, under the competitive perspective, by applying the current understanding of these two products in merger reviews can mislead the authorities.

As modalidades de crédito envolvidas neste estudo são o cheque especial e o cartão de crédito rotativo. Tendo em vista o entendimento das autoridades monetária e antitruste de que não são produtos concorrentes, o estudo concluiu o oposto, uma vez que se evidenciaram indícios de que essas modalidades de crédito se encontram no mesmo mercado relevante.
