The present study is part of the line of research Educational Process and Teacher Training. The general objective of this research is to understand and analyze the methodological practices for literacy and literacy used by teachers in the early years in the city of Araputanga - MT. with the following question: How do literacy methods help the literacy and literacy process, taking into account the pace and performance of students? The study was developed based on the theories of Soares and Ferreiro and also using the concepts of Mortatti (2000, 2006); Rego (2006), Simonetti (2007), in addition to the national documents that guide the national guidelines for the literacy policy. The methodology had a qualitative, descriptive approach, with field research. Thirteen literacy teachers participated in this research. The instrument for data generation was the use of a questionnaire containing thirteen questions, with seven closed questions and six open questions, through a Google Forms form answered by literacy teachers from three public schools in the city of Araputanga - MT. Through research carried out with teachers, we identified the need for teachers to show themselves confident in understanding the concepts of method and technique in order to have a more effective performance and meet the demands of this stage of schooling. In the context of literacy and literacy, teacher education is essential for teaching and learning to be successful, and to transmit teaching and/or knowledge, there is a need for pedagogical practices, as the student, teacher and classroom relationship requires different dynamics and practices so that the outcome is successful. Thus, pedagogical training is necessary in the teacher’s performance in the classroom.
