This research has the question “How is democratic management developed in the state public school of Rio Branco-MT”? The general objective is to investigate the development of democratic management in the state public school in Rio Branco-MT. The specific objectives: to understand the meaning of the laws that promote the democratic management of the research school; analyze the possibilities and challenges in the development of democratic management at school; identify factors that contribute to an effective community participation in the school. The investigation was carried out in a public elementary school in the municipality of Rio Branco-MT. Research participants were: the current school principal; three members of the Deliberative Council of the School Community, a representative of the teachers, a representative of the educational administrations and a representative of the parents; and a student representative of the Student Union. The theoretical bases are supported by authors such as Libâneo (2004, 2007), Lück (2009, 2011, 2015), Brito (2013, 2019), Gois (2020) among others. The methodological approach of the research was qualitative, characterized by the case study and will use as a research instrument: semi-structured interview and documental analysis. For data analysis, the content analysis of Bardin (1977) was used. The study found benefits of democratic management in the school and community, challenges that can be overcome and actions that motivate community participation in the school.
