Resumo: The research sought to advance the investigation of communication experiences in fighting misinformation and fake news in the Brazilian public sector, starting from a strategic communication perspective. Starting from a theoretical construction on the main terms linked to information disorder and the context of digital communication in a network society, the work analyzed three institutional experiences of combating disinformation. Managers from the Communication areas of the Superior Electoral Court, the Federal Senate and the Butantan Institute were interviewed about their practices in initiatives against fake news. It was observed that the initiatives presented elements of Strategic Communication based on reputational reinforcement aimed at stakeholders, with the expansion of interaction channels and a focus on offering reliable information in response to false content. The electoral context and the Covid19 pandemic were decisive circumstances for the start of activities. The challenges of disinformation led institutions to implement actions that demonstrated relevant positions in the public sphere in defense of the public interest.

Partindo de construção teórica sobre os principais termos ligados à desordem informacional e ao contexto da comunicação digital na sociedade em rede, o trabalho analisou três vivências institucionais de enfrentamento à desinformação. Foram entrevistadas gestoras das áreas de Comunicação do Tribunal Superior Eleitoral, do Senado Federal e do Instituto Butantan a respeito de suas práticas em iniciativas contra fake news. Observou-se que as iniciativas estudadas apresentaram elementos da Comunicação Estratégica a partir de reforços reputacionais direcionados aos públicos de interesse, com a ampliação de canais de interação e foco na oferta de informações confiáveis em resposta aos conteúdos falsos. O contexto eleitoral e a pandemia de Covid-19 foram circunstâncias decisivas para o início das atividades.
