The presence of total organic carbon (TOC) in the soil acts on the chemical, physical and biological properties, consequently, the importance is in the quality and soil maintenance, mainly in the tropical ones. Information about the effects and the factors of TOC compartments on fax machines are limited. In this sense, the present paper proposed to evaluate the relationship between plant litter stock in different uses in faxinal and its effects on soil carbon concentration. The study was conducted at Faxinal Anta Gorda, located in the city of Prudentópolis, South-Central region of the state of Paraná. Data were analyzed through gathering of plant litter, in the classes of use in the Faxinal System, except in the pasture class, tested in the laboratory through its fresh weight and dry weight. The ethnobotanical floristic survey was carried out in order to integrate the interpretation of the species of the faxinal and determine which ones could contribute to the process of deposition and storage of plant litter. With the respect to the carbon compartments in the soil, the deformed samples were made under random points within 5 sample units in the breeding area, and the external control area. The process of deposition of organic matter in the soil contributes to the storage of organic matter, to the structure and the soil quality. There is no difference in the TOC between the areas, the variance stands out from the areas of greater depth, between the depths and between the uses. The TOC decreases linearly according to the depth, where the highest concentration occurs in the upper layers in the depths of 0-10 cm. Thus, the variable plant litter did not prove to be a positive predictor parameter to the carbon stock in the soil. The carbon storage in the soil occurs through the relations of use and management in the Faxinal System. As it did not occur the exposure of the superficial layer of the soil and there was no mechanization, the result was the conservation and preservation of the TOC over time.
