Studies on urban mobility, for the most part, focus on research on modals or street design, leaving aside the importance of observing the role of mobility within urban planning. In Feira de Santana-BA, these elements go hand in hand in the formation of the city. The objective of this work is to explain the relevance of mobility for urban planning in the city of Feira de Santana, when this is done properly. For this, a previous study was carried out in previous research, urban development and urban mobility plans, among other documents, using as analytical support the Excel tabular analysis software and the ERIS ArcGis digital mapping software in the spatialization of information. National and municipal legislation aimed at urban mobility has been renewed over the years, however, Feira de Santana has not kept up with the changes. The characteristics of mobility show an increase in the road flow of individual motorized transport, parallel to the decrease in collective means. Along the spatial formation, many changes took place in its road system, main modes and road network, elements present in the various development plans characteristic in the history of municipal urban planning. The plans present considerable variations in content and application, addressing recurrent themes such as railway reactivation. Therefore, to meet existing needs in the preparation and development of plans and projects aimed at urban mobility, some steps must be followed, such as: objectives, data collection, demand forecast, and preparation of plans, project evaluation, implementation and reassessment. It is noteworthy that there is no general rule for elaboration, as they depend on the particularities of each place or region, however, there are common steps that must be presented in the process. It is concluded that the studied process was based on economic, social, temporal and cultural factors.
