Research aimed at investigating the ideal plant arrangement system of common bean under intercropping with castor hybrid is necessary, since the morphophysiological behavior of both crops is altered under intercropping, in order to provide the producer with more information on the use of the technique. Objective of the work was to evaluate the systems of arrangement of common bean plants in intercropping with a small castor hybrid, in the edaphoclimatic conditions of the Cerrado of Goiás, Brazil. In the three experiments, a randomized block design with four replications was used, involving the combination of five simultaneous sowing systems: common bean sown in the castor, between the lines, in the + line between lines, common bean and castor in monoculture. The common bean cultivar used was Pérola; for castor the Agima hybrid was used. The plant height and the primary yield components of the common bean (number of pods per plant, number of grains per pod and average mass of 100 grains) and grain yield were evaluated, while the castor diameter, number of racemes per plant, grain yield, in addition to the area equivalence index (IEA) to verify the efficiency of the intercropping. The arrangement of common bean between the hybrid of the castor under the intercropped system provided the best results when comparing all the analyzed variables of the agronomic characteristics of the common bean. The common bean of grain yield was not influenced by the intercropping with the castor hybrid, and contrariwise. The values of the area equivalence index for the different common bean arrangement systems cv. Pérola in a system intercropped with the Agima 110204 hybrid, were greater than 1.0, for this reason, it was considered viable the intercropping of the referred crops in comparison with their respective monocultures, the Agima 110204 hybrid.
