Resumo: The present study aims to understand how was the performance of Amália Hermano Teixeira – woman from Tocantins/Goiás – in several areas of knowledge, especially in educational issues that also cover his love and dedication to themes focused on nature. In addition, it was also sought, as specific objectives, to analyze the representation of nature from the perspective of Amália, through her intellectual production and understand the vision that was built from the studies that have it as a research theme. The research was based on the analysis of his personal collection – which is in the Historical and Geographic Institute of Goiás (IHGG) – in addition to his publications in the form of articles in scientific journals, authorial books, which cover the period from 1940 to 1990, and still, through the bibliographical production on it. The spatial cut comprises the territory of Goiás of the twentieth century, which encompasses the former North of Goiás, current Tocantins. The theoretical foundation was based, on the one hand, on Cultural History, with a view to a better understanding of the participation of the individual as a historical agent. The following research question was outlined:How was Amália’s performance, considering her personal and professional trajectory, in favor of educational issues and as a nature lover and what is her legacy for these areas in Goiás? The results indicate that Amália was a personality that stood out in several sectors of knowledge, working in teaching, journalism, law and botany, in the area in which it was commonly seen by friends and scholars as na advocate of pragmatic pedagogical education through the foundation of agricultural clubs aimed at rural education and acting on behalf of nature. The social relevance of the theme is to understand broader issues that pervade the history of a particular region and, in this case, to highlight the female performance in the academic and intellectual sphere related to nature, more specifically the Cerrado. Amália managed to give visibility to the Cerratense flora, especially orchids, and as a collector and nature lover, promoted and participated in events, publishing several works in order to disseminate their knowledge about education, agricultural clubs, nature and especially about orchids. This dissertation is divided into three chapters. In the first, we chose to show the life trajectory of the intellectual, in the personal and social aspects, as a subject who experienced history and participated in it. The proposal of the second chapter was to carry out a State of the Art, a survey of the production of the writings about it. The last chapter was dedicated to analyzing the thought of Amália Hermano Teixeira from her publications, material that reflects her involvement and relationship with education, nature, politics, culture, among others.

Então, a fim de alcançá-lo, elencou-se como objetivos específicos: analisar qual a representação da natureza pela ótica de Amália, através de sua produção intelectual e; compreender qual a visão construída sobre ela a partir dos estudos que a tem como tema de pesquisa. A investigação pautou-se na análise de seu acervo pessoal – que se encontra no Instituto Histórico e Geográfico de Goiás (IHGG) –, além de suas publicações de artigos científicos e livros autorais, que comportam o período de 1940 a 1990 e, ainda, por meio da produção bibliográfica sobre ela. O recorte espacial compreende o território goiano do século XX, que engloba o antigo Norte de Goiás, atual Tocantins. Desse modo, delineou-se a seguinte questão de pesquisa: como foi a atuação de Amália, considerando sua trajetória pessoal e profissional, em prol das questões educacionais e como amante da natureza, e qual o seu legado para essas áreas em Goiás? Os resultados apontam que Amália foi uma personalidade que se destacou em diversos setores do conhecimento, com atuação na docência, no jornalismo, na advocacia e na botânica, área em que era comumente vista por amigos e estudiosos como uma defensora da educação pedagógica de cunho pragmático por meio de fundação de clubes agrícolas, buscando o ensino rural e atuando em prol da natureza. A relevância social do tema está em compreender questões mais amplas que perpassam a história de uma determinada região e, nesse caso, destacar a atuação feminina no âmbito acadêmico e intelectual referente à natureza, mais especificamente ao Cerrado. Amália conseguiu dar visibilidade à flora cerratense, especialmente às orquídeas e, enquanto colecionadora e amante da natureza, promoveu e participou de eventos, publicando diversos trabalhos com a finalidade de divulgar os seus conhecimentos sobre educação, clubes agrícolas, natureza e, principalmente, sobre as orquídeas. Esta dissertação está dividida em três capítulos. No primeiro, optou- se por mostrar a trajetória de vida da referida intelectual, nos aspectos pessoal e social, como um sujeito que vivenciou a história e dela participou. A proposta do segundo capítulo foi realizar um Estado da Arte, um levantamento da produção dos escritos sobre ela.
