Fragilidade ambiental na alta bacia do Rio Vermelho (Goiás-GO) : uma proposta de adaptação metodológica

The last few decades have been marked by technological, social, economic and environmental transformations, affecting the functions and sustainability of environmental systems. One of the tools that can help public bodies in their planning efforts is the mapping of environmental fragility, which allows for an integrated assessment of the natural characteristics and restrictions of the environment. In view of this fact, the main objective of this research was to analyze the Potential and Emergent Fragility in a hydrographic region, in the upper basin of the Vermelho River - RHABRV, upstream of the mouth of the Bugre River (Goiás-GO). To achieve the objectives of this research, the methodology proposed by Ross (1994; 2011) was used, with some adaptations, in order to observe the exposure situation of the study area and contribute to its environmental diagnosis and the promotion of natural resource conservation strategies. Firstly, the potential environmental fragility was analyzed by overlaying the slope maps, soil types and climate data. Subsequently, data and information on emerging environmental fragility was added to land use and land cover. As a methodological proposal, data and information on the lithology and shapes of the slopes in the study area were also considered in the investigation of emerging environmental fragility. The application of this methodology was made possible through the use of geoprocessing technologies in the analysis of the factors considered in terms of existing fragilities. Among the results achieved, more than 40% of the RHABRV area was classified as having high to very high modified emerging environmental fragility. The research emphasizes the importance of an integrated approach, which considers both physical/potential and emerging/social aspects, with a view to the conservation and sustainable use of resources in the RHABRV. It is hoped that this work will help make it possible to implement public policies and management measures to minimize existing impacts.
