Propriedades psicométricas da escala da paixão para o contexto esportivo brasileiro

The objective of this study was to investigate the psychometric properties of the Passion Scale (PS) to the Brazilian sports context. This study was divided into four steps: validation and adaptation of content (Step 1), took part in four translators, a doctor in the native language of the country (Brazil) and five experts who adapted the contents of the PS. The sample for the Internal consistency and exploratory factor analysis (EFA) (Step 2) was composed of 300 athletes of collective and individual sports. To assess the Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) (Step 3) an independent sample consisted of 250 athletes of collective and individual sports. The internal validity, external validity and temporal stability was evaluated by an independent sample of the two previous stages, of 126 athletes in individual and collective sports with two data collections. Data analysis was performed with the content validity coefficient (CVC), Cronbach's alpha, the Composite Reliability (CC), Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA). The results showed that the Portuguese version contains clear and relevant issues (CVC> 0.80); Furthermore, PS showed satisfactory internal consistency (?> 0.70 / CC> 0.70). The AFE confirmed the solution of three factors of the original scale, but showed inconsistencies featuring 16 items in total. The AFC revealed that the model of the PS obtained a better solution with 14 items getting good adjustments. Internal validity confirmed the new model with satisfactory local adjustment; the external validity showed positive correlations with the hypothesized correlate construct; and temporal stability of the scale was obtained with 14 items (ICC> 0.70). It concludes that the PS is a valid instrument that assesses the passion in Brazilian sports context to be used in athletes in several sports.
