O que querem os jovens na escola? Estudo de caso sobre preferências de leitura

Current research reports the results on a case study investigating the teaching of literature from the reading preferences of a group of fourteen students in the first year of the upper grades of a private school in Nova Esperança PR Brazil. Investigation aimed at teaching literature and analyzing the readers. taste through their stimulation of an internal predisposition for literary texts. Responses to such preferences in the learning of the discipline were consequently identified. Research was foregrounded by an emphasis on the importance of the teaching of literature when one believes in the potentiality of literary texts to humanize people and when one values that the historical, social and cultural context in which people are inserted may affect the training of individual and collective tastes and broaden their aesthetic horizon. Current quantitative and qualitative analysis has been supported by bibliographical investigation, the Sociology of Reading, the Aesthetics of Reception and field research in literature classrooms throughout 2006. Analysis showed that the project.s development triggered a break from the initial ideas. In fact, it caused a perception and a broadening of awareness of the subjects and a subsequent reflection on their participation as individuals within a society which met for a common end.
