Resumo: Environmental factors and race determine how the animal can respond before a parasite challenge. Thus, the objective was to evaluate the parasitic helminth gastrointestinal and lung during dry and rainy over two years, and still correlate to changes in white blood cell count, packed cell volume and serum protein concentrations in horses Baixadeiros of Meso North Maranhense. 300 samples were collected for evaluation of fecal parasite load through techniques Willis- Mollay (1921); egg count per gram of feces (EPG) by McMaster chamber, the second modified Gordon & Whitlock (1939), growing larvae according to Robert & O'Sullivan (1950) and Baermann technique (CORT et al., 1922). For hematological and biochemical evaluation were collected 225 blood samples, the results were divided into three groups according to the parasite load in G1: 0 ≥ 500, G 2: ≥ 1000 and 501 G 3:> 1001, totaling 60 animals per group for correlation hematologic and 20 for biochemical (albumin, total serum protein refractometer, total plasma protein colorimetric and aspartate aminotransferase). The animals showed single and multiple parasitic infections to gastrointestinal helminths, parasite load in the dry and rainy for the superfamily Strongyloidea (837.33, 1102.66, 1040 and 525.33) Rhabdiasoidea (62,16, 56, 200 and 48) and Ascarioidea (13.33, 16, 34.66 and 50.66), with greater intensity in the rainy season for the superfamily Strongyloidea, eggs cestodes were found only in the rainy season. The animals were negative for pulmonary helminths by Baermann method, however this test was verified the presence of larvae Habronema sp. The haematological and biochemical results varied for the G1, G2 and G3 respectively: total count of red blood cells from 7.84 to 7.60 and 7.51 / mm3, hemoglobin from 11.02 to 10.69 and 10.54 g / dL and packed cell volume from 35.26 to 35.42 and 33.70%, total count of leukocytes 20,41 from 18.67 to 19.47 a x103/mm3; ALB values from 5.49 to 6.58 and 5, 84 g / dL; PPTR 7.11 to 8.29 and 8.95 g / dL; PPTC 8.88 to 9.1 and 8.32 g / dL and AST 15 to 573 U / L. We conclude that the "horses baixadeiros" are naturally infected by gastrointestinal helminths and increased parasite load causes normocytic normochromic.

We conclude that the "horses baixadeiros" are naturally infected by gastrointestinal helminths and increased parasite load causes normocytic normochromic.FAPEMAFatores ambientais e raça determinam como o animal pode responder frente a um desafio parasitário.
