In Mozambique, history and literature recover the pasto f colonial opression and the building of the nation. The fiction writers represent a silenced coletivity, that protest against the injustices and project the society that has born. After the decolonization, a civil war emerged in the country. The pre and post Independence scenarios are pictured by Lília Momplé in her short stories, translating degrading realities. In Ninguém matou Suhura (1988) collection, the author takes back historical aspects of Mozambique in the period before the liberation of Portuguese yoke, tracing a timeline 1935 to 1974. Throughout the narratives that make up the anthology Os olhos da cobra verde (1997), fact and fiction are allied to myth aiming to claim a Mozambican cultural identity, it is possible to verify the fictionalization of the period immediately following the Independence until the Peace Agreement amongst FRELIMO e a RENAMO. Traumatic memories are narrated in order not to be forgotten, causing reflection, autoaffirmation and strategies of resistance to the cultural, social and economical neocolonialisms, in view of the vulnerability of the country. It is aimed to instigate the ―decolonization of being‖ through the narrative practice. The short story reveals to be the appropriate genre to the literaty Project of the writers due to historic, social and cultural factors that influence in the theme, shape and style of the ―stories that illustrate the history‖ of Mozambique.
