Our research proposed a study of the award-winning novel A delicate crime(1997) by Sérgio Sant'Anna. A delicate crime is a story of a rape, or a "singular" rape of a handicaped women, with an amputated leg, called Inês. The plot of a theater critic, Antônio Martins, who after being taken to the dock on charges of rape, begins to remember to give voice to his memory fragmented by alcoholism, while reporting his life and trajectory when analyzing his plays with which he works. The methodology from the dissertation consisted on first, analyzing the critical fortune of the work. Second, studying the narrative and its development in the novel, more precisely, how the work of memory on the part of this critic is established, due to the novel being between the boundaries of the genres autobiographical report, narrative and testimony literature. Including how the crime is increasingly changing Antonio’s critical activity and the criticism of his character, the narrator, concerning the way he judges and evaluates the works. And third, analyzing the semiotic dialogue present in the narrative, moreover, to analyze how this relation represents the Ines' female body. Therefore, our theoretical-critical basis will be based on Diana Klinger (2014), Roland Barthes (1998), Walter Benjamin (1994), Paul Ricoeur (1994), Seligmann-Silva (2013) and Charles Peirce (2000), Judith Butler (2002), and Elódia Xavier (2007).
