Resumo: This study aimed to analyze the Quality of Life and body image of overweight people and the psychosocial aspects experienced by these people. There was a non-probabilistic and accidental participation of 58 people who were overweight and obes, with ages varying from 18 to 66 years (M=38,53; DP=10,69), being the majority female (81%). Besides that, for the interview procedure, 17 people who were approached according to availability, following the saturation criterion. The following instruments were used to collect data: Sociodemographic questionnaire, questionnaire Impact of Weight on Quality of Life-Lite (Iwqol-Lite), The World Health Organization Quality of Life (WHOQOL-bref), the Stunkard Figure Rating Scale (FRS) and Interview. For the socioeconomic characterization and analysis of the data derived from the quantitative instruments,analyzes of descriptive and bivariate statistics were performed, using the statistical program SPSS, version 20.0. For the analysis of the contents from the interviews, the thematic categorical analysis was used. In the General Factor of the QV, the participants had a mean positive score of 53.4 (SD = 10.4), showing a relatively good QV. In the evaluation by factors, the results indicated low levels of QV in the Environment domain and better levels of QV in the Social Relations domain. The evaluation of QV by means of the specific instrument showed a positive mean score of 3.3 (SD = 0.9). In the assessment by factors, the Sexual Life dimension was the one with the best mean score. Otherwise, the Physical Function dimension was the one with the lowest score with a mean below the cut-off point of 2.9 (SD = 1.0). Regarding Body Image, it was verified that none of the participants was satisfied with their body image.From the analysis of the interviews, three thematic classes emerged, 9 categories, and 11 subcategories, namely: Thematic Class I: Explanations for being overweight (categories: Individual Factors, Social Factors and Programmatic Factors), Thematic Class II – Life quality (categories: Individual Factors and Social Factors) and Thematic Class III - Body Image (categories: Dissatisfaction with image, Dissatisfaction with being overweight, preconception and self acceptance. It is concluded that the evaluation of quality of life and body image should be performed considering the various aspects, including people life conditions, social support and intersubjective processes. In other studies, intersubjective aspects, such as loss of occupational roles, diseases and affective relationships, should be considered, as well as the adoption of criteria of a varied nature - biological, psychological and sociocultural - since these elements are related potentialities to health and life, and may interfere in health-disease processes.

Contou-se com a participação, de forma não probabilística e acidental, de 58 pessoas com sobrepeso e obesidade, com idades variando de 18 a 66 anos (M=38,53; DP=10,69), sendo a maioria do sexo feminino (81%). Além disso, para o procedimento de entrevista, participaram 17 pessoas que foram abordadas conforme disponibilidade, seguindo o critério de saturação. Para a coleta dos dados, foram utilizados os seguintes instrumentos: Questionário sociodemográfico, Questionário Impact of Weigth on Quality of Life-Lite (Iwqol-Lite), The World Health Organization Quality of Life (WHOQOL-bref), a Escala de Figuras de Stunkard Figure Rating Scale (FRS) e Entrevista. Para a caracterização socioeconômica e análise dos dados dos decorrentes dos instrumentos quantitativos foram realizadas análises de estatísticas descritivas e bivariadas, por meio do programa estatístico SPSS, versão 20.0. Já para a análise dos conteúdos das entrevistas, utilizou-se a análise categorial temática. No Fator Geral da QV os participantes apresentaram escore médio positivo de 53,4 (DP=10,4), demonstrando uma QV relativamente boa. Na avaliação por fatores, os resultados indicaram baixos níveis de QV no domínio Meio Ambiente e melhores níveis de QV no domínio Relações Sociais. A avaliação da QV através do instrumento específico demonstrou escore médio positivo de 3,3 (DP=0,9), já na avaliação por fatores, a dimensão Vida Sexual foi a que apresentou melhor escore médio. De outro modo, a dimensão Função Física foi a que apresentou o menor escore, com média abaixo do ponto de corte igual a 2,9 (DP=1,0). No que diz respeito à Imagem Corporal, verificou-se que nenhum dos participantes estava satisfeito com sua imagem corporal. A partir da análise das entrevistas, emergiram três classes temáticas, 9 categorias, e 11 subcategorias, a saber: Classe Temática I – Explicações para o excesso de peso (categorias: Fatores Individuais, Fatores Sociais e Fatores Programáticos), Classe Temática II – Qualidade de vida (categorias: Fatores Individuais e Fatores Sociais) e Classe Temática III – Imagem Corporal (categorias: Insatisfação com imagem, Insatisfação com o excesso de peso, Preconceito e Autoaceitação). Conclui-se que a avaliação de qualidade de vida e de imagem corporal deve ser realizada considerando os diversos aspectos, incluindo as condições de vida das pessoas, o suporte social e os processos intersubjetivos. Na realização de futuros estudos, aspectos intersubjetivos, como perda de papeis ocupacionais, doenças e relações afetivas, devem ser considerados, bem como a adoção de critérios de natureza variada – biológica, psicológica e sociocultural –, visto que esses elementos estão relacionados com as potencialidades de saúde e de vida, podendo interferir nos processos de saúde-doença.Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPESapplication/pdfUniversidade Estadual da ParaíbaPrograma de Pós-Graduação em Psicologia da Saúde - PPGPSUEPBBRPró-Reitoria de Pós-Graduação e Pesquisa - PRPGPPró-Reitoria de Pós-Graduação e Pesquisa - PRPGPOverweightObesityBody imageQuality of lifeCIENCIAS HUMANASExcesso de pesoObesidadeQualidade de vidaImagem corporalPessoas com excesso de peso: Aspectos psicossociais relacionados à qualidade de vida e à imagem corporalEnvironmentally displaced person: governance as a management tool to protect the new category of migrantsinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/masterThesisBarros, Sibelle Maria Martins dehttp://lattes.cnpq.br/4445866434237408Pichelli, Ana Alayde Werba Saldanhahttp://lattes.cnpq.br/3894708493299308Silva, Josevânia dahttp://lattes.cnpq.br/3334886715789820http://lattes.cnpq.br/5076119748014151Silva, Nathália Gomes dainfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessporreponame:Repositório Institucional da Universidade Estadual da Paraíba (UEPB)instname:Universidade Estadual da Paraíba (UEPB)instacron:UEPBLICENSElicense.txtlicense.txttext/plain;
