Resumo: The Rural Workers Without Land Movement (MST - acronym in Portuguese) began in the 1970s, as a product of Brazilian farmers’ fight for their land, and it carries, in its core, the resistance of said farmers against the large concentration of lands in the hands of a small number of landowners, a common practice in Brazil. With the presence of women inside this movement as well as the boom the feminist movement saw in the country, there is an incentive for the discussions around gender to start taking shape in the movement, and with that, a chapter titled “the mobilization of women” is included in the general guidelines of MST (1989), and in the year 2000 the gender sector of the movement is created. After the creation of the gender sector, the parity of gender is determined inside the sector coordinations and directories, thus ensuring the participation of women in decision making. The Caetés Brigade, as well as all others, is organized with ways to ensure and encourage the political participation of women in the movement. The objective of this study is to problematize how the political participation of women in the Caetés Brigade (Paraíba - Brazil) takes place, based on the assumption that the Brigade is a limited sample, but works with the same principles and organization as the MST as a whole, and the main question is how women inside the Brigade undertake their political participations from their positions in the coordinations and directories inside the movement. The studies made by Gohn (1997) and Scherer-Warren (1989) concerning social movements were used to bring reflection on this matter, the study by Dallari (1983) was used to discuss political participation, and for a reflection on gender issues the studies used were by Scott (1995) and Nicholson (2000). This is a qualitative case study which uses the methodology of participant observation and semi-structured interview proposed by Gaskell (2014), and the data was analyzed using the content analysis proposed by Bardin (1977). The proposal of this study is inserted in the field of gender studies within social movements. Besides the interviews and bibliographical resources, documents and guidelines for MST taken from the internet or provided by the local leadership were also used as references for the construction of the dissertation. This study was conducted in the Caetés Brigade, located in the Brejo and Curimataú regions of the state of Paraíba, Brazil, and its collaborators were the four women in positions of leadership in the coordinations and directories of said brigade, the interviews took place between November 25 and 27, 2018. By cross referencing the theoretical data available with the data acquired from the methodology used, it was possible to comprehend how the women in the Caetés Brigade develop their political participation with daily struggles to effect land reform and recognition of women in the field, but that they already consolidated spaces, always searching for a better quality of life and the strengthening of social movements, especially the Rural Workers Without Land, in which they work

Com a presença de mulheres neste movimento social, bem como o momento de efervescência do movimento feminista no Brasil, ocorre o incentivo para que as discussões acerca do gênero comecem a tomar forma no MST, com isso já nas normas gerais do MST (1989), se inclui um capítulo sobre “a articulação das mulheres” e no ano 2000 ocorre a criação do setor de gênero no Movimento. Posterior a essa criação acontece a determinação da paridade de gênero nas direções e coordenações de setores do movimento social, para, assim, garantir a participação feminina nos espaços decisórios. A Brigada Caetés, assim como as demais, está organizada com vias a garantir e incentivar a participação política das mulheres no MST. Desta forma, nosso estudo tem como objetivo geral problematizar como se processa a participação política das mulheres do MST na Brigada Caetés - PB, partindo do pressuposto que a brigada é um espaço mais delimitado, porém que abriga todas as instâncias e organicidade do MST de uma forma mais geral e nossa questão problema é saber como as mulheres na Brigada Caetés empreendem sua participação política a partir da sua inserção nos quadros de direção e coordenação do movimento social. Para trazer reflexões, nos aportamos nos estudos propostos por Gohn (1997) e Scherer-Warren (1989) no que concerne aos movimentos sociais, para refletir sobre participação política nos apoiamos em Dallari (1983) e, para pensar a categoria gênero, buscamos Scott (1995) e Nicholson (2000). No tocante aos aspectos metodológicos, realizamos uma pesquisa qualitativa do tipo estudo de caso, utilizando a técnica de observação participante e entrevista semiestruturada a partir de Gaskell (2014) e análise dos dados a partir da técnica de análise de conteúdo de Bardin (1977). Nossa proposta está situada no campo dos estudos de gênero em interfaces com os movimentos sociais. Além das entrevistas e das fontes bibliográficas, utilizamos, para compor a escrita dissertativa, documentos do próprio MST coletados na rede de internet ou disponibilizados pelas integrantes da Brigada. O local de nossa pesquisa foi a Brigada Caetés que abrange cidades das regiões do Brejo e Curimataú do estado da Paraíba e nossas colaboradoras foram quatro militantes do MST que integram ou integraram os quadros de direção ou coordenação de setores da referida brigada, as entrevistas ocorreram entre 25 a 27 de novembro de 2018. A partir do entrecruzamento dos dados teórico-metodológicos, percebemos como as mulheres do MST na Brigada Caetés desenvolvem sua participação política com lutas diárias para efetivação da reforma agrária e reconhecimento do espaço feminino no campo, porém com enormes avanços já efetivados, sempre em busca da melhoria de vida e fortalecimento dos movimentos sociais, em especial o próprio MST.Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPESapplication/pdfUniversidade Estadual da ParaíbaPrograma de Pós-Graduação em Serviço Social - PPGSSUEPBBRCentro de Ciências Sociais e Aplicadas - CCSAPró-Reitoria de Pós-Graduação e Pesquisa - PRPGPCIENCIAS SOCIAIS APLICADASMovimento Sem Terra (MST)MulheresParticipação políticaMovimento feministaMovimento socialDo silenciamento à participação política: as mulheres em atuação na brigada Caetés no MST-PBFrom historical sunset to narrative dawn: mobility and identity building in the novel Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichieinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/doctoralThesisAragão, Patrícia Cristina dehttp://lattes.cnpq.br/6734404565435352Lima, Elizabeth Christina de Andradehttp://lattes.cnpq.br/9483143620752293Santiago, Idalina Maria Freitas Limahttp://lattes.cnpq.br/9993459692120000Silva, Alômia Abrantes dahttp://lattes.cnpq.br/4194100285846150Aragão, Patrícia Cristina dehttp://lattes.cnpq.br/6734404565435352http://lattes.cnpq.br/6068465195775946Araújo, Dassaelly de Souzainfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessporreponame:Repositório Institucional da Universidade Estadual da Paraíba (UEPB)instname:Universidade Estadual da Paraíba (UEPB)instacron:UEPBLICENSElicense.txtlicense.txttext/plain;
