Resumo: Introduction: Some signs and oral symptoms are often found in hemodialysis patients, and can affect the quality of life of these patients. Objective: Evaluate the impact of oral changes in quality of life for hemodialysis patients. Methodology: This is a cross-sectional study about 226 hemodialysis patients in two hospitals of Brazilian Health Unic System (SUS) in the city of Campina Grande-PB. Patients answered a socioeconomic, demographic and clinical questionnaire, underwent an intraoral physical examination, which was carried out by a properly calibrated examiner, then was held the interview in which was filled in the quality of life questionnaire Oral Health Impact Profile (OHIP-14). Statistical analysis considered a significance level of 5% and used the segmentation technique (K-means Cluster) in order to get three clusters of patients with different levels of impact on oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL). For evaluating the association between the dependent variable and the independent variables was used multivariate analysis using a decision tree through the CHAID algorithm (Chi-squared Automatic Interaction Detector) and subsequently ordinal logistic regression. Results: Three clusters were formed considering the impact on oral health-related quality of st nd life: 1 cluster (n=92; 40.7%) - individuals with low impact; 2 cluster (n=74; 32.7%) - average rd impact individuals and 3 cluster (n=60; 26.5%) - individuals with high impact. The averages for all areas of the OHIP-14 range between 0.10 and 2.54. Patients older than 57 years (OR = 2.35; 95% CI: 1.42 to 3.87; p = 0.001), toothache report in the last 6 months (OR = 2.40; 95%: 1.26 to 4.58; p = 0.008) and those living in rural areas (OR = 2.43; 95% CI: 1.13 to 5.23; p = 0.023) were more likely to exhibit a greater impact on OHRQoL. Conclusion: Oral diseases don’t cause a high impact on QVRSB of hemodialysis patients. Factors associated with greater impact were toothache report in the last 6 months older than 57 years old and reside in rural areas.

Objetivo: Avaliar o impacto das alterações bucais na qualidade de vida de pacientes em tratamento de hemodiálise. Metodologia: Trata-se de um estudo transversal realizado com 226 pacientes submetidos à hemodiálise em dois hospitais conveniados ao Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS) no município de Campina Grande-PB. Os pacientes responderam a um questionário socioeconômico, demográfico e clínico, foram submetidos a um exame físico intraoral, o qual foi realizado por um examinador devidamente calibrado, e em seguida foi realizada a entrevista na qual foi preenchido o questionário de qualidade de vida Oral Health Impact Profile (OHIP-14). A análise estatística considerou um nível de significância de 5% e usou a técnica de segmentação (K-means Cluster) para obter três clusters de pacientes com diferentes níveis de impacto na qualidade de vida relacionada à saúde bucal (QVRSB). Para avaliar a associação entre a variável dependente e as variáveis independentes foi empregada análise multivariada, utilizando-se a Árvore de Decisão por meio do algoritmo CHAID (Chi-squared Automatic Interaction Detector) e posteriormente, regressão logística ordinal. Resultados: Foram formados três clusters considerando o impacto da saúde bucal na qualidade de vida: 1º cluster (n=92; 40,7%) - indivíduos com menor impacto; 2º cluster (n=74; 32,7%) - indivíduos com médio impacto e 3º cluster (n=60; 26,5%) - indivíduos com maior impacto. As médias do OHIP- 14 para todos os domínios variaram entre 0,10 e 2,54. Pacientes com idade maior que 57 anos (OR=2,35; IC 95%: 1,42-3,87; p=0,001), relato de dor de dente nos últimos 6 meses (OR=2,40; IC 95%: 1,26-4,58; p=0,008) e residentes em zona rural (OR=2,43; IC 95%: 1,13-5,23; p=0,023) foram mais propensos a exibir um maior impacto na QVRSB. Conclusão: As alterações bucais não ocasionam alto impacto na QVRSB dos pacientes em hemodiálise. Os fatores associados ao maior impacto foram relato de dor de dente nos últimos 6 meses, idade maior que 57 anos e residir em zona rural.application/pdfUniversidade Estadual da ParaíbaPrograma de Pós-Graduação em Odontologia - PPGOUEPBBRPró-Reitoria de Pós-Graduação e Pesquisa - PRPGPPró-Reitoria de Pós-Graduação e Pesquisa - PRPGPOral healthRenal dialysisQuality of lifeChronic Renal FailureCIENCIAS DA SAUDEInsuficiência Renal CrônicaDiálise renalQualidade de vidaSaúde bucalImpacto das alterações bucais na qualidade de vida de pacientes submetidos à hemodiáliseImpact of oral health problems of preschool children on family functioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/masterThesisSoares, Renata de Souza Coelhohttp://lattes.cnpq.br/9587557565279282Freitas, Claudia Helena Soares de Moraishttp://lattes.cnpq.br/8905654343063318Granville-Garcia, Ana Fláviahttp://lattes.cnpq.br/7659139411442846Cavalcanti, Sérgio d'Avila Lins Bezerrahttp://lattes.cnpq.br/8178780570352971http://lattes.cnpq.br/9385127938469653Silva, Jéssica Antoniana Lira einfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessporreponame:Repositório Institucional da Universidade Estadual da Paraíba (UEPB)instname:Universidade Estadual da Paraíba (UEPB)instacron:UEPBLICENSElicense.txtlicense.txttext/plain;
