Resumo: | How Does the Far-Right Use Social Media to Build Its Political Platforms? This work hypothesizes that Donald Trump used his social media profile as a tool to construct a Radical Right-Wing Populist (RRP) political platform by exploiting populist, nativist, and authoritarian narratives. Throughout the United States 2015 presidential elections, Donald Trump adopted digital platforms, especially Twitter, as a direct communication channel with his voters. In the tweets published by Trump at the time, it was possible to identify a narrative that emphasized the United States was undergoing a crisis, mostly associated with anti-immigration, xenophobic, and nativist elements that fueled a sense of insecurity. Trump's emotionally charged tweets fed this need by presenting a worldview in which voters' security was threatened by factors such as immigration, cultural diversity, and social changes. The theoretical framework used in this dissertation refers to Ontological Security, given that Trump's emotionally charged tweets fed this need by presenting a worldview in which voters' security was threatened by factors such as immigration, cultural diversity, and social changes. Through this connection between the crisis narrative and the need for ontological security, Trump's tweets may have played a significant role in shaping voters opinions by capitalizing on perceived fear and insecurity to gain political support, positioning himself as the leader capable of restoring order and protecting traditional values. Regarding the methodology, computational text mining and analysis methods were employed. In the context of this research, Principal Component Analysis (PCA) is used to reduce the dimensionality of the vectorized tweet data, facilitating the application of the K-means clustering algorithm. The tweet analysis is conducted using the Python programming language and Jupyter Notebook to implement the content analysis technique. This approach made it possible to identify elements with populist, authoritarian, and nativist characteristics in Trump's tweets during the campaign. |

A presente dissertação tem como hipótese que Donald Trump utilizou seu perfil nas redes sociais como um instrumento de construção de uma plataforma política Populista de Direita Radical (PDR), por meio da exploração de narrativas populistas, nativistas e autoritárias. Na campanha presidencial de 2015, Donald Trump adotou as plataformas digitais, em especial o Twitter, como um canal de comunicação direta com seus eleitores. Nos tweets publicados por Trump na época, foi possível identificar uma narrativa que enfatizava que os Estados Unidos passavam por uma crise, em sua maioria associada a elementos anti-imigratórios, xenófobos e nativistas que instigavam uma realidade de insegurança. Os tweets emocionalmente carregados de Trump alimentaram essa necessidade ao apresentar uma visão do mundo em que a segurança dos eleitores estaria ameaçada por fatores como imigração, diversidade cultural e mudanças sociais. O marco teórico utilizado na dissertação refere-se à Segurança Ontológica, visto que os tweets emocionalmente carregados de Trump alimentaram essa necessidade ao apresentar uma visão do mundo em que a segurança dos eleitores estaria ameaçada por fatores como imigração, diversidade cultural e mudanças sociais. A partir dessa conexão entre a narrativa de crises e a necessidade por uma segurança ontológica, os tweets de Trump podem ter desempenhado um papel significativo na formação das opiniões dos eleitores ao capitalizar o medo e a insegurança percebidos para ganhar apoio político, apresentando-se como o líder capaz de restaurar a ordem e proteger os valores tradicionais. Em relação à metodologia, empregou-se métodos de mineração e análise de textos computacionais. No contexto desta pesquisa, a Análise de Componentes Principais (PCA) foi utilizada para reduzir a dimensionalidade dos dados vetorizados dos tweets, o que facilita a aplicação do algoritmo de clustering K-means. A análise dos tweets foi aplicada, utilizando a linguagem de programação Python, além do Jupyter Notebook para implementar a técnica de análise de conteúdo. Dessa forma, foi possível identificar elementos com características populistas, autoritárias e nativistas nos tweets publicados por Trump durante a campanha.Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPESapplication/pdfUniversidade Estadual da ParaíbaPrograma de Pós-graduação em Relações Internacionais - PPGRIUEPBBRCentro de Ciências Biológicas e Sociais Aplicadas - CCBSADonald TrumpTwitterPopulismOntological securityCIENCIA POLITICADonald TrumpTwitterPopulismoSegurança ontológicaO populismo de Donald Trump: o twitter na construção de uma plataforma política de direita radical (2015-2016)The power with Chinese characteristics: China's Comprehensive National Power (CNP) in the Hu Jintao erainfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/masterThesisPini, André Mendeshttp://lattes.cnpq.br/4235085538968888de Barros, Thomás Zicmanhttp://lattes.cnpq.br/6055605161153170Nobre, Fábio Rodrigo Ferreirahttp://lattes.cnpq.br/1488422193691291Pacheco, Cristina Carvalhohttp://lattes.cnpq.br/2482701312321718http://lattes.cnpq.br/5987909918678323Rabêlo, Rebeca Souzainfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessporreponame:Repositório Institucional da Universidade Estadual da Paraíba (UEPB)instname:Universidade Estadual da Paraíba (UEPB)instacron:UEPBLICENSElicense.txtlicense.txttext/plain;
