Resumo: The castor bean (Ricinus communis.L) is an important oilseed crop. Its main commercial product is the ricinoleic acid. This crop is easy to grow and it is drought-tolerant. So, it is an interesting option for small farmers in the semiarid region of Brazilian Northeast. Castor crops may be affected by climate change in the future, and the development of this culture would become impossible. The aim of this study was to evaluate and to quantify the effects of temperatures above the optimum temperature for photosynthesis upon growth and biochemical metabolism of different genotypes of castor bean. The experiment was conducted under controlled conditions in phytotron units that simulated different environmental conditions of temperature and moisture. The genotypes BRS Energia, BRS Gabriela, CNPA 2001- 50, CNPA 2009- 7, and BRA 3182 were evaluated in a randomized design with four replicates in a 5 x 2 factorial scheme. The analyzed factors were the 5 genotypes and 2 environmental conditions: 30/20 ºC (day/night) and 40/30 º C (day/night). The castor plants, specially genotypes BRS Energia and BRA 3182, presented significant reduction in the growth rate, plant height, protein content, and some sugars production in the environment 40/30 ºC. The trehalose and sucrose levels were increased, however traces of glucose levels were detected in the HPLC analysis.

É de fácil cultivo e tolerante á seca, tornando-se uma opção para agricultores familiares do semiárido brasileiro. Com as projeções futuras para o clima, o crescimento e desenvolvimento dessa cultura podem ser comprometidos tornando inviável seu cultivo. Objetivou-se com este trabalho avaliar e quantificar os efeitos de temperaturas supraótimas, no crescimento e na bioquímica, dos diferentes genótipos de mamoneira. O experimento foi conduzido em condições controladas (câmaras climatizadas), simulando condições de temperatura e umidade, no período de 60 dias. Cinco genótipos de mamoneira foram testados (BRS Energia, BRS Gabriela; CNPA 2001- 50; CNPA 2009- 7; BRA 3182), utilizou-se delineamento experimental inteiramente casualizado, com dois níveis de temperatura, 30/20ºC (dia/noite) e 40/30ºC (dia/noite) com quatro repetições. Na faixa de temperatura 40/30° C foi verificado que a mamoneira, em especial os genótipos BRS Energia e BRA 3182, apresentam significativa redução do crescimento, com relação à altura de planta, redução de proteínas e alguns açúcares. Houve incremento no teor de trealose e sacarose, na temperatura 40/ 30°C, contudo apenas traços de glicose foram detectados via HPLC.Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPESapplication/pdfUniversidade Estadual da ParaíbaPrograma de Pós-Graduação em Ciências Agrárias - PPGCAUEPBBRPró-Reitoria de Pós-Graduação e Pesquisa - PRPGPPró-Reitoria de Pós-Graduação e Pesquisa - PRPGPCastor beanCIENCIAS AGRARIASMamoneiraAgriculturaRicinus communis LTemperaturas supraótimas no crescimento e bioquímica da mamoneiraSupraoptimal temperatures on biochemistry and growth in different castor bean genotypesinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/masterThesisMedeiros, Everaldo Paulo dehttp://lattes.cnpq.br/0883967020061181Albuquerque, Manoel Bandeira dehttp://lattes.cnpq.br/5479581631378924Beltrão, Napoleão Esberad de Macêdohttp://lattes.cnpq.br/6272315867990294http://lattes.cnpq.br/9789996197594558Silva, Dalva Maria Almeidainfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessporreponame:Repositório Institucional da Universidade Estadual da Paraíba (UEPB)instname:Universidade Estadual da Paraíba (UEPB)instacron:UEPBLICENSElicense.txtlicense.txttext/plain;
