Resumo: The cotton boll weevil, Anthonomus grandis Boheman (Coleoptera: Curculionidae), is considered the main pest of cotton in Brazil due to the several damage caused to the reproductive structures of this crop. The objective of this research was to carry out the chemical control of cotton A. grandis based on the monitoring of cotton squares with open bracts and/or yellowed. Three experiments were carried out. The first aimed to determine the period required for the opening of the bracts and the abscission of the cotton squares after the oviposition of the A. grandis females in this reproductive structure of the cotton plant. The second aimed to estimate the equivalent number of cotton squares with open bracts and/or yellowed to the number of cotton squares with oviposition punctures by the A. grandis. In the third, it was determined whether the effectiveness of chemical control of cotton A. grandis based on the sampling of cotton squares with open bracts and/or yellowed does not differ from traditional sampling based on the observation of cotton squares with oviposition punctures. The results obtained in this research made it possible to infer the following conclusions: the time for opening of the bracts and abscission of the cotton squares with oviposition punctures by A. grandis females varies according to the cotton genotype (1); the time for opening of the bracts and abscission of the cotton squares with oviposition punctures by A. grandis females, in the BRS 433 B2RF cultivar, is 4 and 8 days, respectively (2); the ratio between the number of open bracts and/or yellowed and the number of cotton squares with oviposition punctures is 2:1 (3); the A. grandis threshold control level for chemical insecticide applications based on the percentage of open bracts and/or yellowed is 5% (4) and the effectiveness of chemical control of A. grandis based on the sampling of cotton squares with open bracts and/or yellowed does not differ from that based on the observation of cotton squares with oviposition punctures by A. grandis females (5).

O objetivo desta pesquisa foi realizar o controle químico do A. grandis com base no monitoramento dos botões florais com brácteas abertas e/ou amarelecidas. Foram realizados três experimentos. O primeiro visou determinar o período necessário para abertura das brácteas e abscisão dos botões florais após a oviposição das fêmeas do A. grandis nessa estrutura reprodutiva do algodoeiro. O segundo visou estimar o número equivalente de botões florais com brácteas abertas e/ou amarelecidas ao número de botões florais com orifícios de oviposição pelo A. grandis. No terceiro, foi determinado se a eficácia do controle químico do A. grandis com base na amostragem de botões florais com brácteas abertas e/ou amarelecidas não difere da amostragem tradicional com base na observação dos botões florais com orifícios de oviposição. Os resultados obtidos nesta pesquisa possibilitaram inferir as seguintes conclusões: o tempo para abertura das brácteas e abscisão dos botões florais com orifícios de oviposição por fêmeas do A. grandis varia com o genótipo de algodoeiro (1); o tempo para abertura das brácteas e abscisão dos botões florais com orifícios de oviposição por fêmeas do A. grandis, na cultivar BRS 433 B2RF é de 4 e 8 dias, respectivamente (2); a proporção entre o número de brácteas abertas e/ou amarelecidas e o de botões florais com orifícios de oviposição é de 2:1 (3); o nível de controle do A. grandis para aplicações de inseticidas químicos com base na porcentagem de brácteas abertas e/ou amarelecidas é de 5% (4) e a eficácia de controle químico do A. grandis com base na amostragem de botões florais com brácteas abertas e/ou amarelecidas não difere daquela com base na observação dos botões florais com orifícios de oviposição por fêmeas do A. grandis (5).Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPESapplication/pdfUniversidade Estadual da ParaíbaPrograma de Pós-Graduação em Ciências Agrárias - PPGCAUEPBBRPró-Reitoria de Pós-Graduação e Pesquisa - PRPGPPró-Reitoria de Pós-Graduação e Pesquisa - PRPGPCIENCIAS AGRARIASAnthonomus grandisBicudo do algodoeiroPraga do algodoeiroControle químico Anthonomus grandis (Boheman, 1843) (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) com base no monitoramento de botões florais de algodoeiros com brácteas abertas e/ou amarelecidasinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/masterThesisMalaquias, José Brunohttps://orcid.org/0000-0003-3937-9575http://lattes.cnpq.br/1103370910009848Farias, Francisco José Correiahttps://orcid.org/0000-0002-7213-0694http://lattes.cnpq.br/2791182646995434Silva, Carlos Alberto Domingues dahttps://orcid.org/0000-0002-9662-2466http://lattes.cnpq.br/9605692859227718https://orcid.org/0000-0001-6710-6043http://lattes.cnpq.br/2039558395589625Lima, Tardelly de Andradeinfo:eu-repo/semantics/embargoedAccessporreponame:Repositório Institucional da Universidade Estadual da Paraíba (UEPB)instname:Universidade Estadual da Paraíba (UEPB)instacron:UEPBTHUMBNAILDS - Tardelly de Andrade Lima.pdf.jpgDS - Tardelly de Andrade Lima.pdf.jpgGenerated Thumbnailimage/jpeg3022https://repositorio.uepb.edu.br/bitstreams/1e6057bb-7f19-4122-9553-0349fbeadc51/downloadad43c91e411d4a3cd14114d77f5fb4deMD58falseAnonymousREADTermo de Depósito BDTD.pdf.jpgTermo de Depósito BDTD.pdf.jpgGenerated Thumbnailimage/jpeg4670https://repositorio.uepb.edu.br/bitstreams/1a65833a-16a9-48b1-b4c7-81788e7285ec/download575a00b7dd0ec02d7ef63d25d0a0aa3bMD59falseAnonymousREAD5999-12-31ORIGINALDS - Tardelly de Andrade Lima.pdfDS - Tardelly de Andrade Lima.pdfDS - Tardelly de Andrade Limaapplication/pdf669959https://repositorio.uepb.edu.br/bitstreams/95a02c07-ce57-462a-9274-01e4289936c8/download600b256c4df5c76d8c4833511c1ee4beMD55trueAnonymousREADTermo de Depósito BDTD.pdfTermo de Depósito BDTD.pdfTermo de Depósito BDTDapplication/pdf163161https://repositorio.uepb.edu.br/bitstreams/ac1a1dd9-7aec-4d78-8440-e16e2a9f4161/download809011a7dc1c23e64db9ebfc6d91b6c1MD56falseAnonymousREAD5999-12-31LICENSElicense.txtlicense.txttext/plain;
