“Eu senti que faltava alguma coisa”: Uma análise do retorno à atividade para professores universitários

Retirement is seen as a process of change, which can have implications in terms of social inclusion and the subjects' own health and subjectivity. In the face of the social movement that has caused several workers to postpone retirement or return to work, even after the decision, the main objective of this dissertation was to analyze the reasons for returning or not leaving work after the retirement of higher education. As a theoretical contribution was used the Psychodynamics of work, through the assumptions of the centrality of work, and the concepts of pleasure, suffering and recognition. Ten higher education teachers participated in this study, being teachers of State, Federal and Private Universities of Paraíba, who have already retired and returned or remained in the teaching work after retirement, remaining in a voluntary or remunerated way, selected by the institution through Public tender or contract. To collect data, a socio-demographic questionnaire and a semi-structured interview were used as instruments, addressing the following themes: work, retirement and return to activity. The data were analyzed from the Thematic Content Analysis of Laville and Dione. As a result, the following categories emerged: professional choice, sense of work, sense of retirement and return to activity, thus highlighting in response to the objectives, elements that contributed to the decision to return or not to work retired teachers, among them Social interaction, recognition, the taste for activity, the financial and the return to society. Thus, it can be seen that the data presented by the respondents corroborate with the literature when it presents social interaction and the recognition as determinants to return to the activity, being these factors closely related to the students or colleagues of the profession.
