Resumo: By recognizing water as a basic necessity and an essential element for all life on the planet, this research aims to conduct an analysis of the Water Footprint (WF), as addressed by Arjen Hoekstra, applied to heterogeneous communities in the state of Paraíba in 2023, as a decisive tool for promoting sustainable water management and achieving effective sustainable development at the global level. In this context, the study seeks to contribute to a debate that goes beyond the traditional indicators of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6, proposing an alternative methodology. To this end, a qualitative approach will be adopted, grounded in exploratory research and case study, to provide a scientific framework that supports water management policies and practices tailored to the specific needs of society, while also seeking to enrich the field of International Relations with new topics related to sustainability.

Neste sentido, este trabalho procura contribuir para um debate para além dos indicadores tradicionais do Objetivo de Desenvolvimento Sustentável (ODS) 6, propondo outra metodologia.
