The way of business organization, cooperation and collective exploitation strengthen the chances of growth and markets of small and medium-sized enterprises. The local productive arrangements are agglomerations of companies and enterprises, installed in the same geographic cut, with productive specializations and links of articulation, that result in the generation of employment and income. In view of this, a socioeconomic diagnosis of the productive arrangement of leather and footwear (APCC) of Campina Grande, Paraíba, Brazil, and its relationship with local development was carried out, these determinations being the main objectives. It also has the following specific objectives: a) to establish the main socioeconomic characteristics of Campina Grande APCC; b) to compare the socioeconomic characteristics of this arrangement with those of other places; c) to evaluate the temporal and spatial evolution and to compare with that of other localities. To perform this work, we used published data from institutions related to leather and shoe tracking, referring to social and economic indicators, and those collected in twenty local APCC companies and other institutions directly or indirectly linked to the sector. The methodology used for the on-site research consisted of interviews (recorded) with the social actors and the application of semi-structured questionnaires, with about 100 questions directly related to the mentioned indicatives. The analyzes of the research dataset were made based on the descriptive statistics, the necessary tools and the ca lculations of its parameters for Excel worksheet. The main results allowed to establish the main social and economic characteristics of Campina Grande APCC and other productive arrangements. Campina Grande's APCC produces more than 90.0% of the footwear produced in Paraíba, generates thousands of jobs and is the main producer of footwear in the Northeast of Brazil. he APCC in the cooperative modality shows to be an important system of local income distribution and for its associates. The indicators of the degree of cooperation of the Campina Grande APCC, both individually and jointly, are mostly low, although social and economic indexes contribute decisively to sustainable local development
