Resumo: Introduction: The presence of a physical limitation, such as folding, in elderly individuals who present significant alterations in aging may represent an aggravating factor for the occurrence of mental illness. Depression is considered the most prevalent psychiatric illness among the elderly and a major risk factor for suicide. Objective: To investigate the prevalence of suicidal depression and suicidal ideation and its relationship with socio - demographic factors in elderly people with stroke. Methods: Descriptive, cross - sectional and quantitative study with a sample of 82 elderly people with stroke - related disorders enrolled in the Family Health Strategy (ESF) in the urban area of Campina Grande, Paraíba, Brazil. Data were collected through home visits between May and August 2017. Three forms were used: sociodemographic, Geriatric Depression Scale (EDG-15) and Beck's Suicidal Ideation Scale (BSI). The analysis was performed using the SPSS statistical program, through the description of the variables and the chi-square, Fisher and Cronbach Alpha tests. The significance level of 5% was adopted. The research respected the ethical aspects involving human beings, as recommended by the National Health Council by Resolution 466/2012. Results: There was a predominance of female subjects (51.2%), aged between 60 and 96 (average of 73 years), low income (92.7%) and low schooling (80.5%), not white ( 63.4%), with religious creed (93.9%) and living with companion (51.2%) and relatives (90.2%). The internal consistency of BSI was satisfactory, with Cronbach's total alpha of 0.785 and 0.713 in parts 1 and 2 of the instrument, respectively. The prevalence of depression and suicidal ideation were, respectively, 56.1% and 23.8%. Among those who presented suicidal ideation, 10.5% made a suicide plan, 10.5% prepared for suicide and 5.2% attempted suicide. Depression in elderly people with stroke is associated with low income (p = 0.029), lower educational level (p = 0.006) and no partner (p = 0.042). Sociodemographic factors were not associated with suicidal ideation. The present study did not show a relation between depression and suicidal ideation. Conclusions: A high prevalence of depression and suicidal ideation was observed, and sociodemographic factors interfere in the occurrence of depression in elderly people with stroke follicles. The results show that special attention needs to be paid to the mental health of these elderly people, especially those with low income and schooling and without a partner. The present investigation provided support for the actions of nurses working in the FHT, aimed at the promotion of mental health, primary prevention of these diseases and early detection for the institution of treatment in a timely manner.

A depressão é considerada a doença psiquiátrica mais prevalente entre os idosos e um dos principais fatores de risco para o suicídio. Objetivo: Investigar a prevalência de depressão e ideação suicida e sua relação com fatores sociodemográficos em idosos com plegias por acidente vascular encefálico (AVE). Métodos: Estudo descritivo, transversal e quantitativo, com amostra de 82 idosos com plegias por AVE adscritos na Estratégia Saúde da Família (ESF) da zona urbana de Campina Grande, Paraíba, Brasil. A coleta de dados ocorreu por meio de visitas domiciliares entre maio e agosto de 2017. Foram utilizados três formulários: sociodemográfico, Escala de Depressão Geriátrica (EDG-15) e Escala de Ideação Suicida de Beck (BSI). A análise foi realizada utilizando-se o programa estatístico SPSS, por meio de descrição das variáveis e dos testes de qui-quadrado, Fisher e Alfa de Cronbach. Foi adotado o nível de significância de 5%. A pesquisa respeitou os aspectos éticos envolvendo seres humanos, conforme preconiza o Conselho Nacional de Saúde pela Resolução 466/2012. Resultados: Houve predominância de sujeitos do sexo feminino (51,2%), com idade entre 60 e 96 (média de 73 anos), baixa renda (92,7%) e baixa escolaridade (80,5%), não branca (63,4%), com credo religioso (93,9%) e convivendo com companheiro (51,2%) e familiares (90,2%). A consistência interna da BSI foi satisfatória, com alfa de Cronbach total de 0,785 e 0,713 nas partes 1 e 2 do instrumento, respectivamente. As prevalências de depressão e ideação suicida foram, respectivamente, 56,1% e 23,8%. Dentre os que apresentaram ideação suicida, 10,5% fizeram um plano suicida, 10,5% prepararam-se para o suicídio e 5,2% tentaram suicídio. A depressão em idosos com plegias por AVE está associada à baixa renda (p=0,029), menor nível educacional (p=0,006) e não ter companheiro (p=0,042). Os fatores sociodemográficos não se mostraram associados à ideação suicida. O presente estudo não evidenciou relação entre depressão e ideação suicida. Conclusões: Constatou-se alta prevalência de depressão e ideação suicida e os fatores sociodemográficos interferem na ocorrência de depressão em idosos com plegias por AVE. Os resultados encontrados alertam para a necessidade de uma atenção especial no âmbito da saúde mental desses idosos, sobretudo daqueles com baixa renda e escolaridade e sem companheiro. A presente investigação forneceu subsídios para ações dos enfermeiros atuantes na ESF, que visem à promoção da saúde mental, prevenção primária desses agravos e detecção precoce para instituição de tratamento em tempo oportuno.application/pdfUniversidade Estadual da ParaíbaPrograma de Pós-Graduação em Saúde Pública - PPGSPUEPBBRPró-Reitoria de Pós-Graduação e Pesquisa - PRPGPSuicideHemiplegiaStrokeAgedSAUDE COLETIVASuicídioAcidente Vascular CerebralEnvelhecimentoHemiplegiaDepressão e ideação suicida em idosos com plegias por Acidentes Vascular EncefálicoDegradation and assessment of toxicity potential of chemical compounds present in leachage sanitary landfillinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/doctoralThesisFrança, Inacia Sátiro Xavier dehttp://lattes.cnpq.br/2783760383527777Souto, Rafaella Queirogahttp://lattes.cnpq.br/0667596657820805Oliveira, Francisca Bezerra Dehttp://lattes.cnpq.br/7742884718048985Coura, Alexsandro Silvahttp://lattes.cnpq.br/5597558131874152http://lattes.cnpq.br/8610707490573126Moraes, Jesana Sá Damascenoinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessporreponame:Repositório Institucional da Universidade Estadual da Paraíba (UEPB)instname:Universidade Estadual da Paraíba (UEPB)instacron:UEPBLICENSElicense.txtlicense.txttext/plain;
