Resumo: "The world of tomorrow will be Africa" (MBEMBE, 2016). This statement links time and space, narrative categories evoked in the concept of Afrofuturism—a cultural, artistic, aesthetic, political, and philosophical movement that centers an Afrocentric vision and Black protagonism, both in reality and in fiction. In the latter, "protagonism" is extensive, as it encompasses both the creation and the creator, asserting a position of prominence in authorship as well as in the construction of characters. In literature, through speculative fiction and its subgenres, this concept allows for reflections on how to build a fairer future and reclaims both space and voice for the Black population. Thus, reality and fiction walk side by side, with literary art stemming from social critique. In this sense, the present work aims to analyze the presence of Afrofuturist aesthetics in Brazilian contemporary literature and other arts, with an emphasis on speculative fiction written by Black authors. More specifically, it investigates the development of the concept of Afrofuturism throughout the history of African-American speculative fiction; examines how Afrofuturism materializes in contemporary Brazilian artistic and literary expressions; studies the representation of Black people in Brazilian science fiction; discusses Afrofuturism as a possible fourth wave of Brazilian science fiction; and, finally, analyzes the literary work of Fábio Kabral and Lu Ain-Zaila through the lens of this concept. It seeks to demonstrate that the Afrofuturist movement, in contemporary Brazilian literature, serves as a means to express the desire for freedom from external perspectives imposed on Black people and their representations, promoting the empowerment and protagonism of this aesthetic. To achieve these goals, we draw upon the critical works of Dery (1994), Womack (2013), and Freitas (2018) on the concept of Afrofuturism; Tavares and Matangrano (2018) and Causo (2003) on the genres of speculative fiction and science fiction in Brazil; and Bernd (1988) and Cuti (2010) on discussions surrounding Black Brazilian literature and related themes. The methodology adopted was textual analysis. It is evident that Afrofuturism marks the emergence of Black Brazilian science fiction and stands as a conquest of voice and space for identity affirmation by a segment of the population that has long been silenced and marginalized.

It is evident that Afrofuturism marks the emergence of Black Brazilian science fiction and stands as a conquest of voice and space for identity affirmation by a segment of the population that has long been silenced and marginalized.O mundo de amanhã será a África" (MBEMBE, 2016). Essa afirmação vincula tempo e espaço, categorias narrativas evocadas no conceito de afrofuturismo, pois trata-se de um movimento artístico, estético, cultural, político e filosófico que tem como foco uma visão afrocêntrica e o protagonismo negro, seja na realidade seja na ficção; nessa última o “protagonismo” é extensivo, já que parte da criatura ao criador, uma vez que reivindica-se essa posição de destaque tanto no que se refere à autoria quanto à criação de personagens. Na literatura, por meio da ficção especulativa e seus subgêneros, esse conceito propicia reflexões acerca de como construir um futuro mais justo e a reivindicação de um espaço e lugar de fala para a população negra. Assim, realidade e ficção caminham em paralelo de modo que a arte literária parte da crítica social. Nesse sentido, o presente trabalho tem como objetivo principal analisar a manifestação da estética afrofuturista na literatura e outras artes contemporâneas brasileiras, com ênfase na literatura de Ficção Especulativa de autoria negra. E, como específicos, investigar a construção do conceito de Afrofuturismo ao longo da história da Ficção Especulativa afro-americana; analisar como o conceito de Afrofuturismo se materializa nas manifestações artísticas e literárias brasileiras contemporâneas; estudar a representatividade do negro na Ficção Científica brasileira; discutir o Afrofuturismo como possível quarta onda da Ficção Científica brasileira e, por fim, analisar a produção literária de Fábio Kabral e Lu Ain-Zaila à luz desse conceito buscando mostrar que o movimento afrofuturista, na literatura brasileira contemporânea, configura-se como uma forma de expressar o desejo de liberdade das amarras do olhar de fora sobre o negro e suas representações, promovendo a valorização e protagonismo dessa estética. Para o alcance dos objetivos, evocamos a fortuna crítica produzida por Dery (1994), Womack (2013), Freitas (2018) sobre o conceito de Afrofuturismo; Tavares e Matangrano (2018) e Causo (2003) acerca do gênero Ficção Especulativa e Ficção Científica no Brasil e, Bernd (1988) e Cuti (2010) sobre as discussões em torno da literatura negra brasileira e outras temáticas relacionadas. A metodologia adotada foi a análise textual. Percebe-se que o Afrofuturismo inaugura a Ficção Científica negra brasileira e se constitui como uma conquista do lugar de fala e espaço de afirmação identitária para essa parcela da população tão silenciada e marginalizada.Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPESapplication/pdfUniversidade Estadual da ParaíbaPrograma de Pós-Graduação em Literatura e Interculturalidade - PPGLIUEPBBRCentro de Educação - CEDUCPró-Reitoria de Pós-Graduação e Pesquisa - PRPGPLINGUISTICA, LETRAS E ARTESAfrofuturismoFicção cientificaLiteratura negraCategorias narrativasEstética afrofuturista: história, teoria e sua expressão no BrasilFatty liver in children and teenagers who are overweight: relations with metabolic syndrome componentsinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/masterThesisCosta, Maria Suely dahttp://lattes.cnpq.br/1891779191833711Fernandes, Auricélio Soareshttp://lattes.cnpq.br/2733282184152767Coelho, Rogerio Mendeshttp://lattes.cnpq.br/8043894118984595Gomes de Jesus, André LuisAlves, Wanderlan da Silvahttp://lattes.cnpq.br/4245634036144170https://lattes.cnpq.br/0409285952679123Silva, Felipe Pereira dainfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessporreponame:Repositório Institucional da Universidade Estadual da Paraíba (UEPB)instname:Universidade Estadual da Paraíba (UEPB)instacron:UEPBTHUMBNAILtese B.pdf.jpgtese B.pdf.jpgGenerated Thumbnailimage/jpeg2739https://repositorio.uepb.edu.br/bitstreams/66ecd041-f2f3-47ab-80b8-0ec32ed666ba/download96a5c045446b8677b1b46c1e9a112cfaMD511falseAnonymousREADTermo Assinado.pdf.jpgTermo Assinado.pdf.jpgGenerated Thumbnailimage/jpeg4685https://repositorio.uepb.edu.br/bitstreams/9625e8d2-36f5-419e-917a-4059f5c1bac0/download8117d8214089272520c1d5fb67cc850eMD512falseAdministratorREADLICENSElicense.txtlicense.txttext/plain;
