Resumo: Dental erosion has been highlighted by the increase of its prevalence, which has mainly occurred due to a changing in eating habits and in the modern society lifestyle. Different therapeutic approaches have been evaluated as potential alternatives in their control among which is the use of casein phosphopeptide - amorphous calcium phosphate (CPP-ACP). The available studies in the literature with pastes containing CPP-ACP, associated or not to fluoride (CPP-ACPF) have shown conflicting results. Thus, the present work evaluated the inhibitory potential of erosive demineralization of CPP-ACP pastes by a short-term in situ protocol. For this, twelve volunteers used palatal intraoral devices containing four specimens of bovine enamel. The 192 enamel specimens had their initial superficial hardness (SHi) measured and were randomized between the volunteers and study groups. The experimental groups were: GI = Paste of CPP-ACP (MI Paste ™), GII = Paste of CPP-ACPF (MI Paste Plus ™), GIII = Fluorinated Paste (900 ppm NaF) and GIV = placebo paste. At each stage of the study, after the formation of the acquired film (two hours of continuous use), the volunteers did the intrabuccal application of the paste (three min) and used the intrabuccal device for three additional hours. The erosive lesion was then produced by immersing the intraoral device for 30 seconds in 150 ml of hydrochloric acid (0.01M, pH 2.3). The four cross-steps were intercalated with a 1-day washout period and the final surface hardness (SHf) was measured for the calculation of the percentage of hardness loss (%SHL). The data were analyzed by ANOVA for repeated measurements and Tukey's test (α = 5%) using SigmaPlot software. The results of the hardness loss showed differences between the groups (p <0.05). CPP-ACP and CPP-ACPF pastes showed a significantly lower percentage of hardness loss (9.26% and 9.14%, respectively) than the fluoridated paste (15.5%) and placebo (16.7%), but without differences between them. It was concluded that CPP-ACP pastes were able to reduce erosive demineralization compared to fluoridated paste and placebo, but the incorporation of fluoride in its formulation did not promote additional benefit.

Diferentes condutas terapêuticas têm sido avaliadas como potenciais alternativas para o seu controle, dentre os quais está o uso da caseína fosfopeptídeo - fosfato de cálcio amorfo (CPP-ACP). Os estudos disponíveis na literatura com as pastas contendo CPP-ACP, associadas ou não ao fluoreto (CPP-ACPF) têm demonstrado resultados conflitantes. Diante do exposto, o presente trabalho avaliou o potencial inibidor da desmineralização erosiva das pastas de CPP-ACP mediante um protocolo in situ de curta duração. Para isso, doze voluntários utilizaram dispositivos intrabucais palatinos contendo quatro espécimes de esmalte bovino. Os 192 espécimes de esmalte tiveram sua dureza superficial inicial (SHi) aferida e foram aleatorizados entre os voluntários e grupos em estudo. Os grupos experimentais foram: GI = Pasta de CPP-ACP (MI Paste™), GII = Pasta de CPP-ACPF (MI Paste Plus™), GIII = Pasta fluoretada (900 ppm de NaF) e GIV = Pasta placebo. Em cada fase do estudo, após a formação da película adquirida (duas horas de uso contínuo), os voluntários fizeram a aplicação intrabucal das pastas (três min) e utilizaram o dispositivo intrabucal por três horas adicionais. Em seguida, a lesão erosiva foi produzida pela imersão do dispositivo intrabucal por 30 segundos em 150 ml de ácido clorídrico (0,01M, pH 2,3). As quatro fases cruzadas foram intercaladas com um período de 1 dia de washout e a dureza superficial final (SHf) foi medida para o cálculo do percentual de perda de dureza (%SHL). Os dados foram analisados inferencialmente por ANOVA para medidas repetidas e teste de Tukey (α = 5%), por meio do software SigmaPlot. Os resultados da perda de dureza demostraram haver diferenças entre os grupos (p<0,05). As pastas de CPP-ACP e CPP-ACPF apresentaram percentual de perda de dureza significativamente menor (9,26% e 9,14%, respectivamente) do que a pasta fluoretada (15,5%) e o placebo (16,7%), porém sem diferenças entre si. Conclui- se que as pastas de CPP-ACP foram capazes de reduzir a desmineralização erosiva em relação à pasta fluoretada e placebo, mas a incorporação de fluoreto em sua formulação não promoveu benefício adicional.Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPESapplication/pdfUniversidade Estadual da ParaíbaPrograma de Pós-Graduação em Odontologia - PPGOUEPBBRPró-Reitoria de Pós-Graduação e Pesquisa - PRPGPPró-Reitoria de Pós-Graduação e Pesquisa - PRPGPTooth erosionDental enamelSodium fluorideCaseinsCIENCIAS DA SAUDEErosão dentáriaEsmalte dentárioCaseínasFluoreto de sódioEfeito in situ da aplicação de pastas de CPP-ACP e CPP-ACPF previamente a um desafio erosivo de curta duraçãoinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/masterThesisAlencar, Catarina Ribeiro Barros deSousa, Frederico Barbosa deCavalcanti, Sérgio d'Ávila Lins BezerraCavalcanti, Alessandro Leitehttp://lattes.cnpq.br/4751883787176824http://lattes.cnpq.br/0693792482691374Fernandes, Liege Helena Freitasinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessporreponame:Repositório Institucional da Universidade Estadual da Paraíba (UEPB)instname:Universidade Estadual da Paraíba (UEPB)instacron:UEPBLICENSElicense.txtlicense.txttext/plain;
