Resumo: Especially at the national level, the palliative care approach is still considered recent and unknown. The few empirical studies conducted so far have privileged the knowledge of the practices of health professionals. In this sense, the present research, in addition to presenting data on health professionals, also presents data about the speeches of support technicians on palliative care. Palliative care is a form of comprehensive care, with a multidisciplinary approach, aimed at patients with chronic, limiting and progressive diseases, aiming to promote a better quality of life for the patient and his family. Palliative care can be performed by all health professionals. In addition to these, the support technicians, directly linked to medical practices, play an important role in providing comprehensive health care to people in need of care, considering that full assistance extends to all practices performed by the teams of: doorman/stretcher bearer, secretary, scullery, cleaning services, among all the others. The present study had as general objective to know the discourses about palliative care of professionals that compose the multiprofessional health teams and support technicians who work in an oncology reference hospital, in the city of Campina Grande - PB. The study was set up as an exploratory and descriptive, quantitative-qualitative approach. Data were collected through two instruments, a sociodemographic questionnaire and a semi-structured interview. The sample of this research was composed of 20 health professionals and 11 support professionals who work in a referral service in cancer treatment. After the data collection, the data were analyzed through the Content Analysis method, using the enunciation technique. Quantitative data were presented in tables and qualitative data in sense association trees. The study followed the steps set by the Resolution 466 of December 12, 2012, of the National Health Council, respecting the ethical aspects of research with human beings. For better understanding and visibility the results were divided into two broad categories. The first one addresses the speeches of health professionals about palliative care in the oncology area and the second the speeches of support professionals. In regard to health professionals, it was reported that they present knowledge of palliative care, but still very much associated with end-of-life care. Some support professionals, however, denote limited knowledge and others are totally unaware of this philosophy. Some actions were mentioned by the health professionals and those of support do not consider their actions as being exclusive to palliative care. The affective bonds were evidenced as cause of suffering before the death of the patient for both groups. The feelings of impotence and frustration marked the speeches of the health professionals, besides the technical difficulties and the health system. It is hoped that the result of this research will collaborate with other scientific studies demonstrating the importance of greater investments in the palliative care area, in the training of health professionals to work with this public, as well as in the preparation of the support team, which also contributes to the integral care of the patient.

Os poucos estudos empíricos realizados até o momento têm privilegiado o conhecimento das práticas dos profissionais de saúde. Neste sentido, a presente pesquisa além de apresentar dados sobre os profissionais de saúde, apresenta, também, dados sobre os discursos dos técnicos de apoio, em relação aos cuidados paliativos. Cuidado paliativo é uma forma de cuidado integral, com uma abordagem multidisciplinar, direcionada para pacientes com doenças crônicas, limitadoras e progressivas, visando promover melhor qualidade de vida para o paciente e sua família. A assistência paliativa pode ser realizada por todos os profissionais de saúde. Além destes, os técnicos de apoio, diretamente ligados às práticas médicas, podem desempenhar um relevante papel à hora de prestar a assistência integral de saúde às pessoas em paliação, considerando que assistência integral amplia-se para todas as práticas realizadas pelas equipes de: porteiro/maqueiro, secretaria, copa, limpeza do ambiente, dentre todas as demais. O presente estudo teve como objetivo geral conhecer os discursos sobre cuidados paliativos de profissionais que compõem as equipes multiprofissionais de saúde e técnicos de apoio que atuam em um hospital referência em oncologia, na cidade de Campina Grande - PB. O estudo configurou-se como uma pesquisa exploratória e descritiva, de abordagem quanti-qualitativa. Os dados foram coletados por meio de dois instrumentos, um questionário sociodemográfico e uma entrevista semiestruturada. A amostra dessa pesquisa foi composta por 20 profissionais de saúde e 11 profissionais de apoio que atuam em um serviço referência no tratamento oncológico. Após a coleta os dados foram analisados através do método da Análise de Conteúdo, mediante a técnica de enunciação. Os dados quantitativos foram apresentados em tabelas e os dados qualitativos nas árvores de associação de sentidos. O estudo seguiu os passos previstos na Resolução nº 466, de 12 de dezembro de 2012, do Conselho Nacional de Saúde, respeitando os aspectos éticos de pesquisa com seres humanos. Para melhor compreensão e visibilidade os resultados foram divididos em duas grandes categorias. A primeira aborda os discursos dos profissionais de saúde sobre cuidados paliativos na área oncológica e a segunda os discursos dos profissionais de apoio. No que concerne aos profissionais de saúde contatou-se que estes apresentam conhecimento dos cuidados paliativos, porém ainda muito associado a cuidados de fim de vida. Já os profissionais de apoio alguns denotam conhecimento limitado e outros desconhecem totalmente essa filosofia. Algumas ações foram mencionadas pelos profissionais de saúde, os de apoio não consideram suas ações como sendo exclusivas de cuidados paliativos. Os vínculos afetivos foram evidenciados como causadores de sofrimento diante da morte do doente para ambos os grupos. Os sentimentos de impotência e frustação marcaram os discursos dos profissionais de saúde, além das dificuldades técnicas e do sistema de saúde. Almeja-se que o resultado dessa pesquisa colabore com outros estudos científicos demostrando a importância de maiores investimentos na área dos cuidados paliativos, na formação dos profissionais de saúde para atuar com esse público, assim como também na preparação da equipe de apoio, que, também, contribui para o cuidado integral do doente.application/pdfUniversidade Estadual da ParaíbaPrograma de Pós-Graduação em Psicologia da Saúde - PPGPSUEPBBRPró-Reitoria de Pós-Graduação e Pesquisa - PRPGPPró-Reitoria de Pós-Graduação e Pesquisa - PRPGPOncologyPalliative careSupport professionalsHealth professionalsCIENCIAS HUMANASCuidados paliativosOncologiaProfissionais de apoioProfissionais de saúdeCuidados paliativos para profissionais de saúde atuantes em oncologiainfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/masterThesisMedeiros, Fabíola de AraújoMaciel, Silvana CarneiroAlves, Railda Sabino Fernandeshttp://lattes.cnpq.br/3982255716252380Oliveira, Francisca Fernanda Barbosainfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessporreponame:Repositório Institucional da Universidade Estadual da Paraíba (UEPB)instname:Universidade Estadual da Paraíba (UEPB)instacron:UEPBORIGINALPDF - Francisca Fernanda Barbosa Oliveira.pdfPDF - Francisca Fernanda Barbosa Oliveira.pdfPDF - Francisca Fernanda Barbosa Oliveiraapplication/pdf2123223https://repositorio.uepb.edu.br/bitstreams/0074c737-9413-4642-b042-c459dec4c3c6/download8ee7c84109efced9acd992fcd0fd82f2MD52trueAnonymousREADLICENSElicense.txtlicense.txttext/plain;
