Resumo: Elderly people falling on the ground has called big interest in the public health care field due to demanding costs needed to the care about the sequels coming out from these facts, besides the fact that they present high rate of mortality in the elderly population. The body unbalance is one of the most relevant complains in the process of human aging, thus leading to a higher probability to elderly people falling down. Despite of being more subject to risks, studies show that elderly people tend to prefer to stay in their own houses, whether with the companionship of their relatives or not. This way, there is a need to create monitoring measures in order to help in the identification of falling occurrences of the elderly. During the event of the falling, the body takes a speed variation until it gets to have the impact to the ground, this variation of speed may be measured through a wireless sensor, the accelerometer. Therefore, we have created a detecting system for the possible events of falling with the elderly. Considering the researches advance and good adhesion of the wearable technologies, we have developed the system in order to be used in a smartwatch already available in the market. The smartwatch is able to identify all the event of the falling through an algorithm developed by the researchers, as well as presenting the function to click a bottom in case of emergency. The smartwatch communicates with the care taker of the elderly, sending the information obtained by the sensor to the mobile app of the caretaker‟s smartphone. The mobile app, as soon as receiving the alert, provides the phone call to the elderly or the local emergency assistance that is previously registered, this way leading to a decrease of time in the adequate assistance, and therefore less sequels and complications from the occurrences of falling. The mobile app has also the possibility to register some information about the elderly with the aim to provide an overview of the general profile of the system users and their involvement with the falling. Therefore, the developed system is able to identify the occurrences of falling involving the elderly person, through a wearable technology, being minimally evasive, thus making the constant monitoring of its user possible.

O desequilíbrio corporal é uma das queixas mais evidentes no processo de envelhecimento humano, corroborando dessa maneira, para a maior predisposição de queda em idosos. Apesar de estarem mais expostos a riscos, estudos apontam que os idosos tendem a preferir permanecer em suas próprias casas, acompanhados ou não de parentes. Neste sentindo, surge a necessidade de criar medidas de monitoramento que auxiliem na identificação de episódios de quedas nos indivíduos idosos. Durante o evento de queda, o corpo assume uma variação de aceleração até que aconteça o impacto com o chão, essa variação de aceleração, pode ser mensurada através de um sensor sem fio, o acelerômetro. Portanto, criamos um sistema de detecção dos possíveis eventos de queda em idosos. Tendo em vista o avanço nas pesquisas e a boa adesão das tecnologias vestíveis, desenvolvemos o sistema para que possa ser usado em um smartwatch já difundido no mercado. O smartwatch é capaz de identificar todos os eventos de queda, através de um algoritmo desenvolvido pelos pesquisadores, como também apresenta a função de acionar um botão em casos de emergência. O smartwatch se comunica com o responsável pelo idoso, enviando as informações obtidas pelo sensor para o aplicativo móvel do smartphone do responsável. O aplicativo móvel, assim que recebe o alerta, possibilita a realização de um chamada/ligação para o idoso ou o serviço de emergência local previamente cadastrado, sendo assim, teremos uma diminuição no tempo da prestação de assistência adequada e, consequentemente, das sequelas e complicações provenientes do episódio de queda. O aplicativo móvel ainda conta com a possibilidade de registro de algumas informações do idoso com o objetivo de realizar um levantamento do perfil geral dos usuários do sistema e seu envolvimento com a queda. Portanto, o sistema desenvolvido é capaz de identificar os eventos de quedas envolvendo o indivíduo idoso, através de uma tecnologia vestível, sendo minimamente invasivo, possibilitando assim, o monitoramento constante do seu usuário.application/pdfUniversidade Estadual da ParaíbaPrograma de Pós-Graduação Profissional em Ciência e Tecnologia em Saúde - PPGCTSUEPBBRPró-Reitoria de Pós-Graduação e Pesquisa - PRPGPPró-Reitoria de Pós-Graduação e Pesquisa - PRPGPAccelerometerWearable technologyHuman agingFalling of the elderlyCIENCIAS DA SAUDESaúde do idosoEnvelhecimento humanoTecnologias vestíveisAcelerômetroQueda em idososQueda - IdosoDesenvolvimento de um sistema de detecção de quedas para idososinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/masterThesisVasconcelos, Danilo de Almeidahttp://lattes.cnpq.br/7097483050598928Eulálio, Maria do Carmohttp://lattes.cnpq.br/8757576547339240Araújo, Vitória Regina Quirino dehttp://lattes.cnpq.br/9094592288990750Bastos, Victoria Fernandezhttp://lattes.cnpq.br/1800992448510953Barbosa, Paulo Eduardo e Silvahttp://lattes.cnpq.br/9229454955533353http://lattes.cnpq.br/5200792709177864Silva, Eujessika Katielly Rodriguesinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessporreponame:Repositório Institucional da Universidade Estadual da Paraíba (UEPB)instname:Universidade Estadual da Paraíba (UEPB)instacron:UEPBLICENSElicense.txtlicense.txttext/plain;
