The several theories about the importance of work centrality in human life has become the subject of several theoretical and academic discussions over the last decades. The productive world of the 21st century has shown a new proletariat, outsourced, massified, marginalized workers and even excluded from the work world.The informality and flexibility in employment contracts have led the worker to illness due to work. Part of those excluded from live work are retired workers for disability. Psychodynamics, with the thesis of the work centrality, refers to this as structuring the identity of the individual. From the studies carried out on occupational health under the light of work psychodynamics, the issue of retirement by disability was very exciting and motivating for this research. In Campina Grande - PB we have a medium complexity service that serves formal and informal workers, active, unemployed and disability retirees. This research aimed to analyze the consequences of the lack of work in the lives of formal and informal workers retired for disability who are users of the Regional Center for Rehabilitation and Workers Health Care - CERAST, in the city of Campina Grande-PB. The theoretical and methodological support of the research was Christophe Dejours' Psychodynamics of Work, which was a labor clinic, its priority is the listening and elaboration by the workers of their subjectivity, thus meeting the need for understanding the elaboration by the subjects of these research. The methodology is qualitative as semi structured interviews, not directives. The interviews were recorded and transcribed in its entirety. For data analysis we used the ANS – sense nucleus analysis, which consists of the dismemberment of the text into categories from the speeches of the interviewed subjects, organized by similarities between them, extracting the core involved in each one of them. The results and discussions of this study were presented by means of two articles, “It's too complicated run out of work”: The consequences of retirement by disability in workers treated at a Rehabilitation and Assistance Center in Campina Grande – PB; and "I don’t want my story on a bed”: The found wayouts by retired subjects for disability to transform the suffering. The results in the first article, based on the reports collected in the interviews, showed how the lack of work of the retiree due to disability causes suffering, social isolation, physical and psychological consequences for their health. The results of the second article, on the other hand, also demonstrate how important work is for maintaining the subject's mental health and their identity, to the point that they find healthy substitutes for work and wish to return to the formal labor market.
