A study of the common and the community is proposed as the foundations of narratives of the tetralogy of the ages, by Valter Hugo Mãe. The four stories are: O nosso reino (2004), O remorso de Baltazar Serapião (2006), O apocalipse dos trabalhadores (2008) and A máquina de fazer espanhóis (2010). The aim is to analyze and understand how the two concepts install a plan of immanence and potency within Hugo Mãe's literary universe, which we call: luminous community. In this sense, we think of works written in lowercase letters as configurers of a way of doing politics: that of the common. Our defense is that the collective articulations acquired within these narratives value entry into the world by welcoming and are made in counterpoint to exacerbated and dehumanizing individualism, as well as the simulacrum of democracy and nation. It is about thinking about the community as a ambit of force through the danger of fascism actions that assault dignity, more precisely: when analyzing the luminous communities, we support the hypothesis that Valter Hugo Mãe creates a way of thinking community alternatives through literature. For this, we consider the gestures of the main characters in small in-common nuclei that strengthen cooperation, uniqueness and the production of active affections, against for life that is reified by power. In this way, we focus on the formation of the complicity points that are installed in the selected narrative fabrics, whether by contact or dispersion, seeing them as formations for survival in the contemporary.
