Deficiência física adquirida em decorrência da violência física: representações de adolescentes e jovens

Aims to understand the representations of adolescents and young people about the acquired physical disability due to physical violence and its consequences. It search exploratory, descriptive, qualitative is based on the theory of social representations held in UBSF of Campina Grande, the period October 2011 to February 2012. In the universe of thirteen subjects, nine constituted the sample. The instruments used were form and semistructured interviews. The form data were analyzed by the interpretation and expressivity, presented in a discursive mode, while the interviews, we used the Content Analysis Categorical Thematic supported in the Theory of Social Representations. Respected to the guidelines of Resolution 196/96, Protocol No. CEP 1912.0.000.133-11. The results show the male participants, aged between 16 and 24 years, low education and low income, five singles and four with partner, two working; showed paresis, paraplegia, quadriplegia or amputation. From the analysis of social representations, two categories are enunciated. The first relates to the representations on disability from subcategories anatomical changes, the feelings with the disabilities and the lack of representation of the disability term. The second category concerns the representations about the repercussions of acquired deficiency, represented by subcategories: difficulties and limitations resulting from the disability, achievements and overruns, impact on personal relationships and prejudice. The disability acquired in adolescence or youth, as a result of violence, constitutes an indelible mark representing difficulties and limitations of order biopsychosocial, compromising the quality of life. Improvement requires assistance by the competent authorities facilitating access to goods and services correct.
